Wow. It’s Actually Friday!

Friday’s Feast 191:

Appetizer

What is the nearest big city to your home? Seattle.

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets? I’d give it a 7. It’s depends on the secret and the people.

Salad

Describe your hair (color, texture, length). Dark but not black. Curly/frizzy. Just below the ears and growing (by command of the Prince).

Main Course

What kind of driver are you?  Courteous?  Aggressive?  Slow? Non-driver. My first test drive I crashed the car…into another parked car. Haven’t dared again since.

Dessert

When was the last time you had a really bad week? Uh, that would be this week. Today and yesterday were hellish. I almost walked off the job today, but knew I was too sick and emotionally distraught to make such a drastic decision.

Friday Fun: The Fives Edition

1. What are the last five books you have read? I am reading Arabian Nights right now. The last 4 were all part of the Dune Chronicles: #1 Dune, #2 Dune Messiah, #3 Children of Dune, #4 God Emperor of Dune.
2. Name five places in the world you would love to go to. Israel, Italy, Scotland, Australia, Iceland.
3. Name five people who have strongly influenced your life, both good and bad,… not counting family! JP and Dennis Prager - for the good. Two former religious teachers - for the bad (although, looking at it from a positive standpoint, they made me see that EVERY group has it’s bad apples and not to trust someone just because they’re "religious"). Last but not least, my Prince - for the WONDERFUL.
4. Name five things you have accomplished that you are proud of, big or small! My first novel. 50+ sit ups. Touching the floor with my knees–over my head. Learning the alphabet before age 2. Uh…I’m struggling here…reading a 200+ word novel in one sitting.
5. Name five things you still want to do in your life. Become a published authoress. The splits (I’m SO close!!). Travel the world. Earn a doctorate (in something!). Get married.

Friday Fill-in #72

1. There is absolutely NO way you can get me to abandon my Prince!
2. This hot weather reminds me that summer is almost here!
3. I cannot live without my Prince.
4. The Prince’s experimental dish tonight and dumping wet potato peelings down his back are two things I’d like to try.
5. When life hands you lemons chuck ‘em at people!
6. Biting my brother-in-law is my favorite childhood memory. (Unfortunately, the incident was caught on video.)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to enjoying the Prince’s fine cooking, tomorrow my plans include going to see Prince Caspian (I hope) and Sunday, I want to just relax!

  1. Track :: race…
  2. Snake :: …in the grass
  3. Assignment :: mission

  5. Bombastic :: Have you ever heard anyone so arrogant they BOOM instead of speak?
  6. Adventure :: …of the day. :D
  7. First time :: first love
  8. Aged :: wine. Mm.
  9. Grip :: motorcycle handles
  10. Shortcut :: desktop
Ugh. I have nothing to blog about. I spent the past few days sick at home–and with Imah at that.

My Prince has been busy with work, so I didn’t get to see him this week. That’s all. End of story.

It’s Good to be Back!

It’s so nice to be doing memes again. Now that my weekends are free, I’ll doing this regularly–if only once a week.

It was so nice spending yesterday with My Prince. We hung out for a while at a coffee shop (mm–white mocha!) and then walked (in the rain) for about 45 min (hey, rain exhilarates me). to the movie theather where we watched The Forbidden Kingdom. It was awesome!!! I want it when it comes out on DVD. The Prince liked it, too. Then, since we needed to kill some time, we waited to watch Iron Man. That was when we met C4 and her man coming out from just seeing–guess…–Iron Man! My Prince had wanted to see that one, as well, so they convinced me it was worth watching. After buying tickets, we were taken out for a quick lunch by C4 and her man and then dropped back off at the theater. Iron Man wasn’t as bad as I had expected. (I’m terribly suspicious of movies that get lots of hype in the media).

Following the movie, we went over to my Sisters of the Grand Cauldron of Mischief. Yay! They finally met my Prince! And they got along SO well! Actually, it kind of scares me how well they got along. They actually teamed up to tease me at one point. Don’t those girls realize I know where they sleep?

Well, that’s all for now. Enjoy the memes below. I’m going to eat some of that deliciousness my Prince cooked for me.

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 275:

  1. State :: Kentucky–I did a report on it once.
  2. Lively :: me with coffee :D
  3. Valet :: I could use one–no, on second thought, just give me a chauffeur.
  4. Traction :: non-skid shoes
  5. Official :: …duties
  6. Red hot :: …Mama
  7. Powder :: powered sugar–mmm.
  8. Replies :: "Sarcasm? Who me?" she replies.
  9. Flagrant :: The audacity!
  10. Tweet :: I once had a teacher with that name.

The Good, the Bad and the Humorous

Categories: My life, Friends, Work, Writing

Yesterday put my current position into perspective. Let me review since I’ve been away so long. I have been working in a different position lately. Let’s call this new position "Go-go Girl." So, as Go Go Girl, I have a specified set of duties. That’s cool. What irks me is that anytime someone needs something, they call me and I’m just supposed drop what I’m doing. Not easy when I have pickle juice covered gloves on. And I have a hard time going back to what I was doing. (*grr* What the dickens was I doing?!)

I’ve gotten a lot better at being the Go Go Girl, thanks to previous Go Go Girls who have taught me their tricks of the trade. Yesterday, however, I get to work and am told I am going to work in the old position (of which I was "Queen"). It threw me for a loop. I didn’t realize how accustomed I was to the fast-paced-never-stop-til-you’re-done rhythm of being a "Go Go Girl." In my old position, I’m dealing with customers, waiting (and waiting…and waiting…) on them to decide what they want to order, to find their money (or discover "oops!" they don’t have their money!), and (s…l…o…w…l…y…) count their money. Y…i…p…p…e…e…!

So, I came to work today thinking, "Wow. Being Go Go Girl isn’t all that bad!" *cough* Yeah, if only I’d thought that on a day that wasn’t a Friday. The idea might have lasted a little longer than a few hours. Gah! *Pulls out hair* This is so stressful! Today was especially bad because we were running low on product. And because I was not "Go Go Girl" yesterday, the state that my product was left in was less than ideal. Grr.

Oh, that’s not the best part. If I wasn’t before, this week has definitely earned me the honorary title of "Messiest Worker of the Decade." Every single day this week, I have exploded bags of onions–on Wednesday, the onions went down my shirt. That was nice–all my co-workers making such comments: "Do you smell onions?" "Is that a new cologne?" "Wow. Need some deodorant?" Yeah…nice. I’m not going into the messes I made with the various sauces. *shudder*

It sounds a lot funnier here, but as I’m usually rushed and harried, I’m afraid my sense of humor often fails me. Looking back really helps. Hey, I could be the modern Louisa May Alcott with stories like these.

The food fight at my Sisters’, for example. Pieces of bread hard enough to feel like shrapnel were hurled across the table. Some of them (I can’t imagine who threw them) dinging one of the boys on the forehead and again down his shirt. Then, one of those square take-out boxes from an Asian restaurant bounced off my head. In retaliation, My Evil Twin tossed the liquid contents of her glass in her brother’s face. Her brother then tried a few times to splash me without his sister knowing. I ended his attempts by imperiously and indignantly informing him that I was wearing a white shirt and how dare he be so perverted as to try and get me wet (I’m close enough with them that hurling insults back and forth is a sign of affection). My words caused a burst of laughter at which my brother-from-another-mother shrank back to glare at me in the frustrated silence of failure.

Ah yes, good times. I love my *other* family.

Your Skin is Ready

Categories: Random, My life, My Prince

The Prince is fitting into my family quite well. Yesterday, he came over and cooked for us. Spicy chicken, spicy rice, spicy cabbage soup. Mmm. He’s the best cook ever! Anyway, he and I don’t like the skins on the chicken, so Imah (who loves them) took them off and cooked them separately. Later, my Prince went into the kitchen to check on his food. He called to Imah: "Your skin is ready!" and then burst out laughing because "it sounds funny." Yes, it did. Imagine walking in and hearing that–out of context. LOL!

Yes, he’s fitting right in.

The Prince of Arrakis

Categories: My life, My Prince

I have neglected my blog. I apologize. Mostly to my Prince who seems to enjoy reading this and also to Her Majesty (who would sneak up on me from the shadows one night like the ninja she is and slit my throat if I didn’t acknowledge her *wink*).

So, the big question of the day (no, wait…of the YEAR) is: Who is this "Prince" you speak of? I don’t know how comfortable he is with me blogging about him, so I’m hesitant about what to say. That he’s perfect for me? Those who know me best might be frightened by this. To them I say…Be afraid. Be very afraid. He is my Prince, my Knight in Shining Armor, my genius, the part of my soul I always felt I was missing. It’s like I always knew he was out there, I was just afraid somehow we’d never meet. Or maybe we’d meet but not connect.

I call him Yochi. We’ve been emailing each other for months. A friend from synogogue gave me his email address and suggested I give encouragement to a soldier in Iraq. I remember feeling…not so positive about it. Yes, I support the troops, but I don’t want to email some strange guy! It wasn’t until Imah started emailing him and I learned about who he was that I got the nerve to email him (by that time, I was thinking: Wow. This guy must be a genius! How do I email him without making myself sound stupid? I really stressed on that for awhile). I decided to just be myself and described my interests and whatnot. Since then, whenever we discuss books or music, I feel compelled to try everything he suggests. Hey, he has excellent taste. I’m a diehard fan of Sarah Brightman’s music because of him–I especially enjoy singing to her music. I forgot how much I love singing soprano. Wow.

Everything about him is WOW. There was one point I thought to myself how perfectly he fit into my standards for My Man (which are so strict I never thought anyone could fit). I thought to myself: Well, he doesn’t have glasses, but that’s a mere outward appearance that I can do without. Turns out, HE WEARS GLASSES! I found it hilarious! So when I say he fits perfectly what I wanted in a man, I MEAN IT!!

Anyway, we finally met for the first time Wednesday. Imah picked me up from work (I couldn’t take the ferry that day) so we could go to our Jewish studies class. Guess who was in the van? Good thing I happened to be in an extremely good mood that day. But WOW! What a shock! My hair! My stupid floppy, messed up bangs! I so wanted to meet him wearing my hair the way I prefer it (which is also the way he prefers it). Oh well, he liked my hair…and my nails and my (pink) sweater…

I’m afraid I didn’t pay complete attention in class. It was a little distracting having the Prince of my dreams sitting right next to me in all his genius glory…and Imah on the other side of me. After class, I hated having to give him up so soon. When Imah suggested we three check out a local bookstore, I pounced on the idea and insisted we go. That gave me an extra hour or two. Not enough…but, hey…there’s Friday.

He’s coming over tomorrow evening to do some experimental cooking. Ah, these bland American dishes! he bemoaned to me. I can’t wait to taste his delicasies! Mmm.

I’m planning to take him to Seattle soon and show him the sights. Anytime our schedules allow, I plan to spend with my Prince.

So forgive me if I continue to neglect this blog. I’ll try to keep it up. I miss it. I just miss my Prince more. emoticon

  2. Army :: marching
  3. Unwrap :: gifts from a special person
  4. Evolve :: super powers! Mine are clairvoyance and telekinesis. What’s yours?
  5. Bus :: money (grr, I hate buses.)
  6. The real thing ::
  7. Streak :: meteor. Blast these blinkety-blankety clouds! I want to see the Geminids!
  8. Gorge :: Oo, I need to name the one nearby…
  9. Spicy :: Where? I love spicy foods! Love, love, love!!! Hot Tamales candy, too!
  10. Course :: Stay the… (not good advice if you’re on the highway to hell, LOL!)

randomness…feed your mind and your blog

week of December 16 2007:

Happy Holidays random word association I say, you think:

1. santa: hat (they’re cute)

2. holiday carols: Nothing beats "I have a little Dreidel"

3. snow: Makes me think of the song "Snow" on the movie White Christmas with Bing Crosby. (That movie is hilarious!)

4. mistletoe: ick–don’t make me whack you with a bough of your Christmas tree!

5. season: holidays

6. candy cane: peppermint–good for upset stomach

7. eggnog: *gag*

8. presents: 8–one for each day of Chanukkah!

You know what’s funny…when Chanukkah was ended, I was surprised to still see decorations all around town. It wasn’t until I declared to my Girlz that I would dedicate a certain tree decked in all blue lights to the Prince of Arrakis as a Chanukkah tree that I realized my folly. Duh! They may be called Holiday decorations, but they’re still just for Christmas. Nothing like your friends laughing at you to set you straight. LOL!

Anyway…*sigh* I’m afraid I haven’t been able to blog much lately. Life sometimes, augh. First, I was sick, then things started piling up on me. Eek! It didn’t help my mental state when Yochanan was unable to email me for a while. Fortunately, the Prince of Arrakis has found a new internet cafe from which he can continue to share the wealth of his knowledge and creativity with me.

Meanwhile, I’ve been deluging myself with music by Sarah Brightman, Bond, and Moby, reading Dune, and watching DVDs based on the books by James Herriot (loving it!). I just picked up Angel, Season 1 from the library–on impulse. I hope it doesn’t scare me too much.

I’m also in the process of getting Israeli dancing started at my synogogue. Feedback has been very positive and enthusiastic. We may even take occasional "field trips" to the dance in Tacoma. Yay! Can’t wait to get started! I just need my CD back that Her Majesty was fixing for me.

There’s a big, all-store review coming up at work on Tuesday. It has the bosses in a tizzy, and their nervousness has infected me. I hope that’s not why my tummy was upset today. I thought I was passed that. I haven’t made myself physically sick by anxiety since junior high. (No, I still don’t take pressure well. I recall hide-and-seek with horror. "Blast it! Just find me already! I can’t take this anymore!")

It seems whatever the Prince suggests I must do. Though I’ve been considering trying yoga for some time, it wasn’t until Yochi suggested it that I actually took the action off placing holds at the library on anything yoga.

As for other social matters, Imah and I have upgraded our phone plan to include unlimited texting and internet! Yay! We have also gotten myspace IM.

Just for fun, here’s what ringtones I’ve downloaded since getting my Katana:

Allegretto by Bond, Bad Day by Daniel Powter, Deliver Me by Sarah Brightman, Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone, Explosive by Bond, Fuego by Bond, Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira, Imperial March from Star Wars, Israel National Anthem, Pink Panther Theme, Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna, Suerte by Shakira, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Phantom of the Opera, The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani. Nice, diverse set, eh?

I really need to keep myself well rested for that store review. Laila tov!

The Last of November

Categories: My life, Memes

Friday’s Feast 170:

Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride? The carousel–that’s about all I can handle.

Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations? How do you think? I laugh.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics? Depends on my mood and the actual topic, but I’d give it an 8.

Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to? No and no.

Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television? 3: 1 hour for Heroes; 1 hour for Bones; 1 hour for House.

Friday Fill-in #48:

1. When my blog is broken, I may freak out but then I fix it.
2. I saw the most amazing sunrise this morning! (Actually, it was earlier this week.)
3. Beowulf is the new movie I’m most looking forward to seeing. (Nothing good enough to coax me to the theaters, though. I’ll just wait until it comes out on DVD.)
4. Work: Necessary and evil. (LOL! Kidding!)
5. Of all the new tv shows, I enjoy Heroes the most. (Heroes isn’t new anymore, I realize, but I don’t like anything newer.)
6. If only it would snow.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to shul, tomorrow my plans include coffee highs and Sunday, I want to meme!

Oh! The mixed feelings. I love November. I almost hate for it to end. But end it must if I want the future to come. I do want it to come. Oh, how I do want it. I’m going to be a very busy lady this winter season (for the next two months, to be precise). Good thing, though. I won’t suffer from the pressure of waiting if I can keep busy.

All for now! Shalom!

The Wait is Over!

Categories: My life, Friends, Pics

Scene from Aladdin: After years (maybe even centuries?), Jafar (by devious means) has posession of the magic lamp. In triumph, he bellows, "AT LAAAAAAAAAST!!!"

That’s exactly how I reacted…once I was far enough from the public to keep from frightening them.

Yochi’s gift finally came!! At last! The waiting is over!

Allow me to share his gifts…

Three patches:

Two perfumes. The tall, blue/pink one (on the left) is french: Island Kiss. The shorter one (on the right) is called Arabian Nights.

And last (but certainly not least), the bracelet. Stunning, huh?

*sigh* Gifts from the brave and noble Prince of Arrakis. I’m going to go enjoy them now–the gifts and the letter.

week of November 18: Giving Thanks

With Turkey Day so near, lets blog about it!

1. How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? I get together with family, eat, and play various games.

2. Do you cook or go out to eat? Cook. Always.

3. What has been the best Thanksgiving for you? The worst? Fortunately, I don’t think I’ve had a bad Thanksgiving. My Thanksgivings are calm and relaxing. They’re the best when my sister cooks.

4. What are you thankful for? Most of all? That would be my pen-pal, Yochi.

5. Any special traditions you do? See #1.

an extra sidedish this week:

1. cranberry sauce or gravy? Mm, gravy!

2. white meat or dark? Dark, definitely.

3. yams, with or without marshmallows? With, please!

4. stuffing or no stuffing? What?! No stuffing? Are you nuts?

5. pumpkin pie or apple pie? Oh, that’s a cruel thing to ask. Ok, with whipped cream–pumpkin pie; with ice cream–apple pie.

Grr. I was really hoping Yochi’s present would come today. Now, I have to wait til Monday. I guess that’s fair, though, since I’m sending his on Monday. It’s just seems like my life is full of waiting right now.

My Evil Twin is in Georgia; she’ll be back on Monday, and she promised to go ice skating with me.

Her Majesty and Tigger have yet to grace me with their presence (and their presents, as a matter of fact). Plus, they still have my favorite dance CD with them. Well, at least they’re going to reburn it for me. It was a little messed up. That’s nice of them.

Then, my sister calls me up today and tells me she has presents for me–she’ll bring them when she comes over on Thanksgiving. Of course she won’t tell me what they are.

Don’t you people think I’ve waited enough already?! It’s not like patience is my strong point. Far from it. Grr. I’m done. Done with the waiting. So there.

I’ve got to go now. I’m waiting for Yochi’s next email.
