week of December 16 2007:

Happy Holidays random word association I say, you think:

1. santa: hat (they’re cute)

2. holiday carols: Nothing beats "I have a little Dreidel"

3. snow: Makes me think of the song "Snow" on the movie White Christmas with Bing Crosby. (That movie is hilarious!)

4. mistletoe: ick–don’t make me whack you with a bough of your Christmas tree!

5. season: holidays

6. candy cane: peppermint–good for upset stomach

7. eggnog: *gag*

8. presents: 8–one for each day of Chanukkah!

You know what’s funny…when Chanukkah was ended, I was surprised to still see decorations all around town. It wasn’t until I declared to my Girlz that I would dedicate a certain tree decked in all blue lights to the Prince of Arrakis as a Chanukkah tree that I realized my folly. Duh! They may be called Holiday decorations, but they’re still just for Christmas. Nothing like your friends laughing at you to set you straight. LOL!

Anyway…*sigh* I’m afraid I haven’t been able to blog much lately. Life sometimes, augh. First, I was sick, then things started piling up on me. Eek! It didn’t help my mental state when Yochanan was unable to email me for a while. Fortunately, the Prince of Arrakis has found a new internet cafe from which he can continue to share the wealth of his knowledge and creativity with me.

Meanwhile, I’ve been deluging myself with music by Sarah Brightman, Bond, and Moby, reading Dune, and watching DVDs based on the books by James Herriot (loving it!). I just picked up Angel, Season 1 from the library–on impulse. I hope it doesn’t scare me too much.

I’m also in the process of getting Israeli dancing started at my synogogue. Feedback has been very positive and enthusiastic. We may even take occasional "field trips" to the dance in Tacoma. Yay! Can’t wait to get started! I just need my CD back that Her Majesty was fixing for me.

There’s a big, all-store review coming up at work on Tuesday. It has the bosses in a tizzy, and their nervousness has infected me. I hope that’s not why my tummy was upset today. I thought I was passed that. I haven’t made myself physically sick by anxiety since junior high. (No, I still don’t take pressure well. I recall hide-and-seek with horror. "Blast it! Just find me already! I can’t take this anymore!")

It seems whatever the Prince suggests I must do. Though I’ve been considering trying yoga for some time, it wasn’t until Yochi suggested it that I actually took the action off placing holds at the library on anything yoga.

As for other social matters, Imah and I have upgraded our phone plan to include unlimited texting and internet! Yay! We have also gotten myspace IM.

Just for fun, here’s what ringtones I’ve downloaded since getting my Katana:

Allegretto by Bond, Bad Day by Daniel Powter, Deliver Me by Sarah Brightman, Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone, Explosive by Bond, Fuego by Bond, Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira, Imperial March from Star Wars, Israel National Anthem, Pink Panther Theme, Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna, Suerte by Shakira, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Phantom of the Opera, The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani. Nice, diverse set, eh?

I really need to keep myself well rested for that store review. Laila tov!

week of october 14: Have you ever seen a ghost? Keeping with the ’spirit’ of Halloween this weeks questions are:

Have you ever seen a ghost? Seen? No. But I heard them as a child. They really scared me–walking up and down the hall every night–until I got so mad, I yelled at them to cut it out. That’s when I started talking to them and realized, Hey, these guys are pretty cool. Some of them were my best friends.

Know someone who has? Just me.

Do you believe in ghosts? Not really, but talking with those childhood ghosts really helped my fear go away. I do, however, believe in spirits–something that never was nor will become human.

Ugh. I love my soundtrack from A Knight’s Tale, but I’m so tired. I need to get some sleep, too. I didn’t get much last night. I won’t get much Tuesday night, either because I’m going bowling with my Girlz. Late, late night. Work the next day.

Thank God I’m still young.

We are the Champions!

Friday’s Feast 164:

Appetizer
When was the last time you were surprised? The last time someone jumped out from behind a corner and screamed at me–that would be about two hours ago. I have the funniest co-workers. emoticon

Soup
Fill in the blanks: My eyes are my best feature, but I wish they were even more expressive than they are–maybe not. I’ve made people nearly laugh themselves to death with my expressions.

Salad
If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be? I’d be a pink and black, winged, lightning-bolt-wielding tiger named…Sparky. ROAR.

Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits. My stretches and exercises. That’s it.

Dessert
What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not? I buy what’s cheapest.

Friday 5: Lasts:

  1. What was the last thing you baked? Pizza.
  2. What was the last thing you tried on for size? Discounted summer blouse.
  3. What was the last thing you purchased on credit? Nothing.
  4. What was the last thing you put a postage stamp on? My brother’s birthday card.
  5. What was the last thing you took a photo of? Hold on, let me check my Katana…me in my new "U BUG ME" t-shirt.

Friday Fill-in #41:

1. Once upon a time in a land with no physical entrance…(that’s how many of my stories could begin.)
2. Children screaming and laughing simultaneously. Oh, the joy.
3. Boiling white tea and ginger.
4. Way down under.
5. Keys excite mystery; locks bring bafflement.
6. Have you seen the Rafim? They’re so creepy!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to shul, tomorrow my plans include continuing the final editing on my novel, and Sunday, I want to get it all done! (It’s a long shot, but what the hay?)

My bad mood has broken. I say broken because I really feel I had to break a part of myself to come free from this depression. I haven’t been as low as when it came to a head in a long time. Even now, there’s something weird…blank, missing…I’m just not sure if that missing thing is good or bad. Times like this *almost* make me wish I was a guy…but not quite. (No offense, guys.)

Getting a little more upbeat, I went shopping with Imah last night–originally to buy some cheap, sugarless soda pop to help ease my nausea–and came home with A Knight’s Tale. The DVD and the soundtrack. I love the movie and the music…well, it’s rocks me. My favorite song is "We are the Champions". I’ve had it playing every moment I’ve been home since it arrived here. Ok, not every moment. I also enjoy "We Will Rock You," "Lowrider," and "Taking Care of Business." But "We are the Champions" gives me the feeling of empowerment that I need right now. I’ve always been deeply affected by music.

On a final and most exciting note: I have finished my novel!!!!!!! I’m now in the final editing stages., following which I will immediately move on to volume 2 (I want to write the whole series before I try to publish).

I’d like to thank Her Majesty for her awesome help including typing up part of my story which was lost when my old computer died (Has anyone ever called you ‘Lightning Fingers?"). Thank you, also, Camp W girls for your interest and enthusiasm in the first chapters I released to the public. Finally, thanks to my (awesome-as-usual) co-workers for your interest and encouragement–and, specifically, you, Chauncy, for all the great advice and nagging. I don’t think I could have finished without you!

Speaking of nagging, Imah told me my title was boring. I’ve changed it several times. I can’t seem to get anything to fit. Then, I struck it–gold. It is now, simply: The Legend of Ruach. Yes, that’s also the name of the series. Hey, if Stephenie Meyer can do it, so can I. emoticon

Rock on. Shalom!

I went to C4’s last night. I had just popped some popcorn and decided I didn’t want it, so I gave it to Gabe to give to the kiddles. I never saw the bag again. LOL!

C4 and I did a bit of dancing, but we were both rather tired and had limited space. After listening to some music, I watched Raph play an RPG computer game (which he died on several times) and then Micky and I helped her aunt with some fashion decisions. Hehe. Shortly after dinner, I had to leave. :( Still, it was nice to hang out there for a while.

I got myself a Meebo chatroom and got a little video-happy uploading my favorite clips on it. Anyway, here’s the link. I also have it embedded in my forum and myspace page. Enjoy!

Dance This

As usual, I’m all tired out after a fun day with friends. Her Majesty planned a surprise party for C4. We ended up taking all the kiddies, but hey, they’re lots of fun. We had the party at Calev’s; all we really had time for was a great game of Apples to Apples (love that game), which I ended up winning. Then, we were supposed to go to a dance party, but C4’s older sister wanted to visit her, so we all went home (to her parents’). Once there, most of us rollerbladed in the basement until we were exhausted, injured or both. Then, the kiddies were put to bed and we older ones watching Stranger Than Fiction and Lady in the Water. I saw them both for the first time and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Great movies.

Well, by then it was after midnight, and I was falling asleep. C4 decided it was a good time to go home (she had to work this morning, poor thing). During the drive, I told her that Imah was planning to move somewhere around the Washington/Oregon border where most of our family resides–and she’s going to have me come with her! Well, I don’t relish the thought of moving away from my dancing friends. Besides, Imah plans to move near a family member (or two) with health problems to help out a bit. Her need to take care of someone won’t have to be fulfilled by me anymore. And there’s the fact that Imah and I get along like a dog and cat.

So, C4 suggested a good paying job with the Navy–that way I could stay up here. Hey, it couldn’t hurt. I’m going to go for it.

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 216:

  2. Jealousy :: possessiveness

  8. Stems :: food (lol! I’m hungry, ok?)
  9. Birds :: eagles (I love eagles and hawks.)
  10. Listener :: eavesdropping

randomness…feed your mind and your blog Week of March 25:

A Few of My Favorite Things what’s your favorite…..

1. food: Vanilla ice cream

2. movie: Oo, toughy. Probably the Princess Bride–it has a little of everything. Except dragons; it doesn’t have any dragons. Phooey.

3. song: Unwritten

4. color: It was pink, but now I’m undecided between pink and red. And my old fave, green, is taking advantage of that.

5. outdoor activity: running back inside–lol! Um, all I can think of is roller blading.

6. season: summer. Oh yeah.

7. book: that’s just cruel! I can’t have a favorite book!

8. store: Borders (unless Amazon.com counts)

9. car: Hummer

10. animal: White Tiger

Oh, yes. I ran into a little snag in my novel. I started freaking out because I thought I was stuck again after all that outlining of what was to come. I finally came to realize I should just start writing. I thought I should have another scene before a big action scene, but , heck, I don’t need it! Booyah! So, I went straight to the action scene. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to finish it. Maybe today. Maybe.

Well, that’s all for now. I’m tired and I have a headache. And I have to chores to get done. Oh joy.

V–Crazy Frog–of the Caribbean

Categories: My life, Friends, Memes, LR, Movies, Music

I don’t feel well, so bear with me. I mean, mentally, I’m upbeat, cheerful, and excited. Must be the coffee. *wink* Physically…well, I’m here in the living room because the computer cord isn’t long enough to reach into the bathroom. Heh. Odd, huh?

I went to my beloved "sisters’ " house on Wednesday. Because I finally got a DVD player, they gave me their other Pirates of the Caribbean movie. (Two members of the family each bought one, so they had an extra. They wanted to give it to me–because I was crazy about the movie–but I wouldn’t accept because without a DVD player I could never watch it.)

We went out with Trin and little Zeke to see Night at a Museum. It was good. Not up for my list of favorites, but I liked it. It was a little more suspenseful than I expected. I kept glancing over at little Zeke thinking "I hope he’s doing ok with this." Of course, not having any younger siblings of my own, I’m usually too worried about these little ones who are like family to me.

My evil twin insisted that I listen to a CD they had–something like "Crazy Frog". It was pretty fun. The little ones started dancing. C4 and I danced with them. (We were perhaps even more enthusiastic than the young’uns.) Hey Baby was one of the songs. I go crazy whenever I hear that song. Perhaps my Israeli Dance instructor’s outrageous singing cemented it in my mind–but it’s one of my favorite dances. Of course, with the little ones all around there was limited mobility. I still had a great time.

By, oh…around 10pm, we settled down (the munchkins in bed) for a nice movie. I really wanted to see V for Vendetta. C4, however, had to work in the morning, so we decided to leave. Trin let me borrow V but threatened that I’d better bring it back or she’d track me down. Apparently, it’s one of her favorite movies. Yeah, having now watched it, I can see why. I’ve always liked vengeance themes and sword/dagger wielding characters. That’s what my character Evelyn is all about. But that’s in volume 2 of my novel series. I’m still working to finish volume one.

–Which, by the way, I am actually currently working on again! Really! Writer’s block is…er, slowed. I’m at a slow part right now, so, naturally, it’s coming slow. But it’s coming!

Ok, enough babble.

Patrick’s Weekender

Name seven pet peeves other drivers commit:

1. Tailgating.

2. Turning off their brights at the last second–or not turning them off at all.

3. A combination of #1 and 2.

4. Pulling out of a parking space without looking to see if someone is driving by.

5. Pulling out into traffic without giving other drivers enough space.

6. Pulling out into traffic like a bat out of torment and slowing down.

7. Driving slow until coming to a yellow light where they then speed up–leaving you to miss the light. Thanks, dude.

As You Wish.

Categories: Movies, Music

I went shopping yesterday with the gift card my brother gave me. I wanted to get a ring with pink heart (I’ve had my eye on it for some time), but there wasn’t one in my size. I’ll wait–but I will get it one day.

Instead, I ended up getting the first CD of my very own (my other CDs have been givens to me). I decided on Natasha Bedingfield’s "Unwritten". There was no competition really. I love the music on that CD and knew I must have it one day. I’m so excited. Our computer won’t play the music from this one music site anymore, so I haven’t been able to listen to her songs.

I also bought my first DVD: The Princess Bride. I LOVE that movie. When I was browsing the DVDs at the store, I told myself that if I saw it, I had to have it. After all, I was going to get it one day. (See a pattern here? emoticon).

So, we watched The Princess Bride today. Imah complained at first, listing off the many faults the movie was sure to have. When it actually started, she was excited to see Peter Falk and started telling me about the Pink Panther series. I was relieved to hear her laugh as the movie progressed. Just as a clincher, I asked her at the end if she liked it. Not only did she say yes, she went on about it! Mark another score for the Princess Yaffa!! *Ding! Ding!*

With that I say…Farewell!
