Wow. It’s Actually Friday!

Friday’s Feast 191:

Appetizer

What is the nearest big city to your home? Seattle.

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets? I’d give it a 7. It’s depends on the secret and the people.

Salad

Describe your hair (color, texture, length). Dark but not black. Curly/frizzy. Just below the ears and growing (by command of the Prince).

Main Course

What kind of driver are you?  Courteous?  Aggressive?  Slow? Non-driver. My first test drive I crashed the car…into another parked car. Haven’t dared again since.

Dessert

When was the last time you had a really bad week? Uh, that would be this week. Today and yesterday were hellish. I almost walked off the job today, but knew I was too sick and emotionally distraught to make such a drastic decision.

Friday Fun: The Fives Edition

1. What are the last five books you have read? I am reading Arabian Nights right now. The last 4 were all part of the Dune Chronicles: #1 Dune, #2 Dune Messiah, #3 Children of Dune, #4 God Emperor of Dune.
2. Name five places in the world you would love to go to. Israel, Italy, Scotland, Australia, Iceland.
3. Name five people who have strongly influenced your life, both good and bad,… not counting family! JP and Dennis Prager - for the good. Two former religious teachers - for the bad (although, looking at it from a positive standpoint, they made me see that EVERY group has it’s bad apples and not to trust someone just because they’re "religious"). Last but not least, my Prince - for the WONDERFUL.
4. Name five things you have accomplished that you are proud of, big or small! My first novel. 50+ sit ups. Touching the floor with my knees–over my head. Learning the alphabet before age 2. Uh…I’m struggling here…reading a 200+ word novel in one sitting.
5. Name five things you still want to do in your life. Become a published authoress. The splits (I’m SO close!!). Travel the world. Earn a doctorate (in something!). Get married.

Friday Fill-in #72

1. There is absolutely NO way you can get me to abandon my Prince!
2. This hot weather reminds me that summer is almost here!
3. I cannot live without my Prince.
4. The Prince’s experimental dish tonight and dumping wet potato peelings down his back are two things I’d like to try.
5. When life hands you lemons chuck ‘em at people!
6. Biting my brother-in-law is my favorite childhood memory. (Unfortunately, the incident was caught on video.)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to enjoying the Prince’s fine cooking, tomorrow my plans include going to see Prince Caspian (I hope) and Sunday, I want to just relax!

It’s Good to be Back!

It’s so nice to be doing memes again. Now that my weekends are free, I’ll doing this regularly–if only once a week.

It was so nice spending yesterday with My Prince. We hung out for a while at a coffee shop (mm–white mocha!) and then walked (in the rain) for about 45 min (hey, rain exhilarates me). to the movie theather where we watched The Forbidden Kingdom. It was awesome!!! I want it when it comes out on DVD. The Prince liked it, too. Then, since we needed to kill some time, we waited to watch Iron Man. That was when we met C4 and her man coming out from just seeing–guess…–Iron Man! My Prince had wanted to see that one, as well, so they convinced me it was worth watching. After buying tickets, we were taken out for a quick lunch by C4 and her man and then dropped back off at the theater. Iron Man wasn’t as bad as I had expected. (I’m terribly suspicious of movies that get lots of hype in the media).

Following the movie, we went over to my Sisters of the Grand Cauldron of Mischief. Yay! They finally met my Prince! And they got along SO well! Actually, it kind of scares me how well they got along. They actually teamed up to tease me at one point. Don’t those girls realize I know where they sleep?

Well, that’s all for now. Enjoy the memes below. I’m going to eat some of that deliciousness my Prince cooked for me.

week of December 16 2007:

Happy Holidays random word association I say, you think:

1. santa: hat (they’re cute)

2. holiday carols: Nothing beats "I have a little Dreidel"

3. snow: Makes me think of the song "Snow" on the movie White Christmas with Bing Crosby. (That movie is hilarious!)

4. mistletoe: ick–don’t make me whack you with a bough of your Christmas tree!

5. season: holidays

6. candy cane: peppermint–good for upset stomach

7. eggnog: *gag*

8. presents: 8–one for each day of Chanukkah!

You know what’s funny…when Chanukkah was ended, I was surprised to still see decorations all around town. It wasn’t until I declared to my Girlz that I would dedicate a certain tree decked in all blue lights to the Prince of Arrakis as a Chanukkah tree that I realized my folly. Duh! They may be called Holiday decorations, but they’re still just for Christmas. Nothing like your friends laughing at you to set you straight. LOL!

Anyway…*sigh* I’m afraid I haven’t been able to blog much lately. Life sometimes, augh. First, I was sick, then things started piling up on me. Eek! It didn’t help my mental state when Yochanan was unable to email me for a while. Fortunately, the Prince of Arrakis has found a new internet cafe from which he can continue to share the wealth of his knowledge and creativity with me.

Meanwhile, I’ve been deluging myself with music by Sarah Brightman, Bond, and Moby, reading Dune, and watching DVDs based on the books by James Herriot (loving it!). I just picked up Angel, Season 1 from the library–on impulse. I hope it doesn’t scare me too much.

I’m also in the process of getting Israeli dancing started at my synogogue. Feedback has been very positive and enthusiastic. We may even take occasional "field trips" to the dance in Tacoma. Yay! Can’t wait to get started! I just need my CD back that Her Majesty was fixing for me.

There’s a big, all-store review coming up at work on Tuesday. It has the bosses in a tizzy, and their nervousness has infected me. I hope that’s not why my tummy was upset today. I thought I was passed that. I haven’t made myself physically sick by anxiety since junior high. (No, I still don’t take pressure well. I recall hide-and-seek with horror. "Blast it! Just find me already! I can’t take this anymore!")

It seems whatever the Prince suggests I must do. Though I’ve been considering trying yoga for some time, it wasn’t until Yochi suggested it that I actually took the action off placing holds at the library on anything yoga.

As for other social matters, Imah and I have upgraded our phone plan to include unlimited texting and internet! Yay! We have also gotten myspace IM.

Just for fun, here’s what ringtones I’ve downloaded since getting my Katana:

Allegretto by Bond, Bad Day by Daniel Powter, Deliver Me by Sarah Brightman, Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone, Explosive by Bond, Fuego by Bond, Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira, Imperial March from Star Wars, Israel National Anthem, Pink Panther Theme, Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna, Suerte by Shakira, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Phantom of the Opera, The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani. Nice, diverse set, eh?

I really need to keep myself well rested for that store review. Laila tov!

  5. Artist :: if you write, draw, paint, sing, or dance.

  7. Wish :: I’ll keep that to myself.
  8. Doormat :: A good way to warn victi–er, visitors that people with a peculiar sense of humor are in residence.
  9. Global :: …warming. What worries me is that giant meteoroid with Earth’s name on. (It’s out there somewhere.)
  10. Apartment :: townhomes are better.

week of November 25: Giving & Getting Gifts

With the holidays upon us again, lots of us are doing gift shopping. Now lets blog about it.

1. Do you prefer to shop in stores or on the internet? Internet. It’s more precise; I know exactly what I want and I go for it. I hate dodging crowds of people who really don’t know what they’re doing. (I hope I don’t drive like I shop.)

2. Who on your gift list is the hardest to shop for? Imah, I’d say.

3. About how much do you end up spending during holiday gift shopping? Oh, I don’t want to think about it.

4. What is the best holiday gift you have ever received? A day with a friend. The worst? Fortunately, I can’t remember any bad gifts.

5. What gift do you want this year? A better future. (What I really want, I won’t get this year.)

Just a note before I go to bed (because I’ve been cheating myself out of sleep again), I’ve been working on getting my novel updated on Scroll Keeper Sagas. Please, my Girls, enjoy!

*yawn* So much I want to do, so little time. I like the quote from the old movie Journey to the Center of the Earth (James Mason, Pat Boone and Arlene Dahl): "I don’t sleep. I hate those little slices of death."

I agree. Sleep is a big waste of time. But, boy, do I fall apart without it!

Shalom and laila tov!

week of Oct21: Scary Stuff

Since Halloween is drawing near, lets blog about scary stuff….

1. What’s your favorite scary movie? Scary book? Movie: Hangman’s Curse. Book: probably The Oath.

2. Who is scarier, Freddy Kruger(nightmare on elm street), Jason(friday the 13th) or Michael Myers(halloween)? I don’t know; I’ve never watched any of them.

3. Do you believe in wherewolves, vampires and or zombies? Of course! I’m a half-breed of the first two. (Don’t ask how that happened.)

4. Are you superstitious? Why or why not? Why, no! It’s bad luck to be superstitious. ;)

5. Are you afraid of the dark? I love the dark. (I prefer half-light, though, so I do still sleep with a small light on.)

6. Who is your favorite movie monster? I’d say Mystique, but the mutants don’t like being called monsters. Twilight hasn’t been made into a yet–neither has The Golden Compass. I know! Wookiee from Star Wars! (I still want a Wookiee…)

Master of Finances, forgive me! I got a bit spending-happy with my cell phone. 2 new ringtones (Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield) and two games (one’s a brain teaser, the other’s a card game). At least the games were super cheap. I probably didn’t even spend more than $10 for all 4 items, but I’m not supposed to be spending at all. That is the ultimate price for my new boots, sunglasses, and coat.

*Knocks myself on the head* He-llo? See the title of your blog? You’re not a princess anymore! You’re in exile!! *shrug* She never listens to me.

Pardon the schizophrenia there. Have a great week, everyone! (Or should I say: shavuah tov!)

We are the Champions!

Categories: My life, Memes, Writing, LR, Movies, Music

Friday’s Feast 164:

Appetizer
When was the last time you were surprised? The last time someone jumped out from behind a corner and screamed at me–that would be about two hours ago. I have the funniest co-workers. emoticon

Soup
Fill in the blanks: My eyes are my best feature, but I wish they were even more expressive than they are–maybe not. I’ve made people nearly laugh themselves to death with my expressions.

Salad
If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be? I’d be a pink and black, winged, lightning-bolt-wielding tiger named…Sparky. ROAR.

Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits. My stretches and exercises. That’s it.

Dessert
What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not? I buy what’s cheapest.

Friday 5: Lasts:

  1. What was the last thing you baked? Pizza.
  2. What was the last thing you tried on for size? Discounted summer blouse.
  3. What was the last thing you purchased on credit? Nothing.
  4. What was the last thing you put a postage stamp on? My brother’s birthday card.
  5. What was the last thing you took a photo of? Hold on, let me check my Katana…me in my new "U BUG ME" t-shirt.

Friday Fill-in #41:

1. Once upon a time in a land with no physical entrance…(that’s how many of my stories could begin.)
2. Children screaming and laughing simultaneously. Oh, the joy.
3. Boiling white tea and ginger.
4. Way down under.
5. Keys excite mystery; locks bring bafflement.
6. Have you seen the Rafim? They’re so creepy!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to shul, tomorrow my plans include continuing the final editing on my novel, and Sunday, I want to get it all done! (It’s a long shot, but what the hay?)

My bad mood has broken. I say broken because I really feel I had to break a part of myself to come free from this depression. I haven’t been as low as when it came to a head in a long time. Even now, there’s something weird…blank, missing…I’m just not sure if that missing thing is good or bad. Times like this *almost* make me wish I was a guy…but not quite. (No offense, guys.)

Getting a little more upbeat, I went shopping with Imah last night–originally to buy some cheap, sugarless soda pop to help ease my nausea–and came home with A Knight’s Tale. The DVD and the soundtrack. I love the movie and the music…well, it’s rocks me. My favorite song is "We are the Champions". I’ve had it playing every moment I’ve been home since it arrived here. Ok, not every moment. I also enjoy "We Will Rock You," "Lowrider," and "Taking Care of Business." But "We are the Champions" gives me the feeling of empowerment that I need right now. I’ve always been deeply affected by music.

On a final and most exciting note: I have finished my novel!!!!!!! I’m now in the final editing stages., following which I will immediately move on to volume 2 (I want to write the whole series before I try to publish).

I’d like to thank Her Majesty for her awesome help including typing up part of my story which was lost when my old computer died (Has anyone ever called you ‘Lightning Fingers?"). Thank you, also, Camp W girls for your interest and enthusiasm in the first chapters I released to the public. Finally, thanks to my (awesome-as-usual) co-workers for your interest and encouragement–and, specifically, you, Chauncy, for all the great advice and nagging. I don’t think I could have finished without you!

Speaking of nagging, Imah told me my title was boring. I’ve changed it several times. I can’t seem to get anything to fit. Then, I struck it–gold. It is now, simply: The Legend of Ruach. Yes, that’s also the name of the series. Hey, if Stephenie Meyer can do it, so can I. emoticon

Rock on. Shalom!

If I close my eyes and cover my ears…

Categories: Memes, Movies

Unconscious Mutterings 160:

Appetizer
When was the last time you visited a hospital? A several years ago when my grandmother had a heart attack.

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how ambitious are you? Not at all really. I work to pay the bills. I live to write.

Salad
Make a sentence using the letters of a body part. (Example: (mouth) My other ukelele tings healthily.) Nadia only seems entertained.

Main Course
If you were to start a club, what would the subject matter be, and what would you name it? It would be an artists’ club for writers, illustrators, singers, actors, whatever and how to put their talents to good use. Offhand, my first brainstorm idea for a title would be The Gift. Something along that line.

Dessert
What color is the carpet/flooring in your home? Depends on which room. Yellow for the kitchen and dining room, white for the living room, multi-gray for the library, seafoam green for the bathroom and sun room, and (soon!) pink for my room!

Friday Five: Taken:

  1. Who was the photographer the last time a picture of you was taken? Trin or Micky.
  2. When were you last taken by surprise? Probably.
  3. When were you last taken for a ride (interpret literally or figuratively!)? Last Sunday when I rode with friends to the Seattle dance!
  4. Where were you the last time you wished to be “taken away from all this?” Home.

Dance with Your Feet - Not Your Stomach

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 240:

  1. Dork :: not to be confused with geek or nerd
  2. Refurbished :: me once I get over my nausea!
  3. Basket :: case
  4. Mousse :: hair or chocolate?
  5. Studio :: *sigh* one day…one day…
  6. 8 ball :: Tell me the future… (Actually, I don’t want to know.)
  7. Masking tape :: works as well as any other when someone needs to shut up!
  8. Love :: heart-breaker
  9. Wilder :: than you…since 1901
  10. Lindsey :: Lohan (What the dickens happened to her?!)

I stayed up late night (so much for catching up on sleep) watching Die Hard (#1) and uploading the photos I got from My Evil Twin from the road trip–and the dance party. Not many of the latter turned out though. They’re in my myspace photo album now–viewable by friends only. I won’t have time today, but I’ll try to post some here on my blog later this week.

I may do it after work today. It depends…I was planning to go to dance in Seattle with C4 directly after work, but my…er, monthly sickness is nearing. It isn’t much fun dancing while nauseated. Hopefully, the diet Sprite Imah bought me last night will keep working.

I want my feet to dance…NOT my stomach!

That and I’m wondering if I can really afford it. It’s funny how something as foolishly simple as using the wrong card can screw up your finances. Ugh. (Don’t worry; it’s all under control now. I just won’t be going on any shopping binges for a while!)

Oh, about Die Hard. I’ve never seen a whole Die Hard movie before, so our neighbor, the Motorcycle Chick, lent me the first three! I’m so excited! Bruce Willis rules!

Stardust

Categories: Friends, Work, LR, Movies, Health

So, I went to hang out with my Girlz and their family yesterday evening, and C4 told me of her plans to go see Stardust. Of course, I had to go, too–even though I had planned not stay up late because I had things to do in the morning. It was sooo worth it. We kidnapped My Evil Twin so that I had someone to bury my face into for the scary stuff (I’m sensitive when it comes to movies; spirits and ghosts I can handle–animated dead bodies…heck no! Ew, ew, ew!!!!).

It was so awesome. Very Princess Bride-esque. Awesome special effects; great suspense; lovable characters (even the bad ones, lol). And that adorable Tristan (played by Charlie Cox)–with the longer hair and the white jacket. Yu-u-ummy!

*ahem* So, yes; I loved the movie. I am totally going to own it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get home until after midnight. And guess what was on tv? Stargate! I haven’t seen that show in over two months! So, I watched the rest of that episode…and another Stargate came on!! Argh! I stayed up to watch that one, too, because I was so keyed up from watching Stardust (stupid hot Tristan and stupid, freaky, animated, dead body!).

Finally, at 2 a.m. I went to bed…with the Hunting Fear audiobook because I can’t go to sleep without some voice talking. (Yeah, "Hunting Fear" sounds like the perfect bedtime story, doesn’t it?) I got up at 9 because that was as late as I could push it. I didn’t have any coffee because my tummy is still troubling me.

Stupid tummy! I needed coffee today. It was great that my shift was short–because I never did wake up. Maybe that was a good thing, too. My customers were determined to be troublesome today, but I was too out of it to respond. "Is that all I can do for you? That’ll be such-and-such-a-price. Here’s your change. Thank you. Have a great day." I may have even shared a drooping smile or two.

On a final note, I’m getting good at working on my novel regularly–a little each day. Soon will come the final, ultimate battle! Muahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
