Categories: My life, Memes, Health

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 276:

  1. Track :: race…
  2. Snake :: …in the grass
  3. Assignment :: mission
  4. Blockbuster :: movies!
  5. Bombastic :: Have you ever heard anyone so arrogant they BOOM instead of speak?
  6. Adventure :: …of the day. :D
  7. First time :: first love
  8. Aged :: wine. Mm.
  9. Grip :: motorcycle handles
  10. Shortcut :: desktop
Ugh. I have nothing to blog about. I spent the past few days sick at home–and with Imah at that.

My Prince has been busy with work, so I didn’t get to see him this week. That’s all. End of story.

Duchess of Dance Haven

Categories: My life, Dance, Fitness

I’ve been brooding for a while over my Duchess of Darkhaven title. While Darkhaven sounds cool, there is a definite darkness to it. Darkness is something I’m trying to get away from. I don’t like what it does to me. How it makes me look and act.

I’ll never get away from it entirely. Of course not. No one does. But to just sit there and let it in. No…to openly invite it in. Uh-uh. No way.

The chalkboard in my room (which will eventually get replaced by a whiteboard) is covered with my brainstormed ideas. I’ll leave those ideas to your imagination because my brainstorms aren’t very glamorous.

It wasn’t until last night that something amazing popped into my head. I felt so stupid for not thinking of it sooner. (That how it happens. It just pops in my head!) Duh! I dance all the time (at least, I used to). Imah calls me the Dancing Malka (dancing queen).

DANCE HAVEN!!

Oh yeah. It fits. It rocks. It’s so me. My room is a haven. When I am finished with it (still need to put the mirrors up and find some pink carpet), one can enter and discover themselves transported into another world. That’s the goal, the intent, of my room. Plus, I also want it to have a royal and dance studio effect. Imah thinks I should get one of those bars they use in ballet classes. I think that’s going too far.

Though my friends tend to scoff when I mention it, I was one of the worst ones in my ballet classes. I didn’t like it until after I left. Then (continuing the exercises and stretches at home), I noticed I was one of the most physically fit at my junior high. Sad…but funny.

Anyway, back to the main topic: Duchess of Dance Haven fits. It works. It is so me. Muahahaha!

Stardust

Categories: Friends, Work, LR, Movies, Health

So, I went to hang out with my Girlz and their family yesterday evening, and C4 told me of her plans to go see Stardust. Of course, I had to go, too–even though I had planned not stay up late because I had things to do in the morning. It was sooo worth it. We kidnapped My Evil Twin so that I had someone to bury my face into for the scary stuff (I’m sensitive when it comes to movies; spirits and ghosts I can handle–animated dead bodies…heck no! Ew, ew, ew!!!!).

It was so awesome. Very Princess Bride-esque. Awesome special effects; great suspense; lovable characters (even the bad ones, lol). And that adorable Tristan (played by Charlie Cox)–with the longer hair and the white jacket. Yu-u-ummy!

*ahem* So, yes; I loved the movie. I am totally going to own it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get home until after midnight. And guess what was on tv? Stargate! I haven’t seen that show in over two months! So, I watched the rest of that episode…and another Stargate came on!! Argh! I stayed up to watch that one, too, because I was so keyed up from watching Stardust (stupid hot Tristan and stupid, freaky, animated, dead body!).

Finally, at 2 a.m. I went to bed…with the Hunting Fear audiobook because I can’t go to sleep without some voice talking. (Yeah, "Hunting Fear" sounds like the perfect bedtime story, doesn’t it?) I got up at 9 because that was as late as I could push it. I didn’t have any coffee because my tummy is still troubling me.

Stupid tummy! I needed coffee today. It was great that my shift was short–because I never did wake up. Maybe that was a good thing, too. My customers were determined to be troublesome today, but I was too out of it to respond. "Is that all I can do for you? That’ll be such-and-such-a-price. Here’s your change. Thank you. Have a great day." I may have even shared a drooping smile or two.

On a final note, I’m getting good at working on my novel regularly–a little each day. Soon will come the final, ultimate battle! Muahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sick Day - This is Nice!

Categories: Q & Q, Health, Books

I woke up at 6:30 this morning with a stomach flu. My first thought, as I rolled over in bed to look at my clock, was "Oh my God! What am I doing awake this early?" Then, the nausea crept into my gut like an insidious tide. The room around me tilted and swam dizzily.

Oh. That’s why.

Though puzzled that I was sick in the morning when my stomach usually decides to get sick in the evenings, I nonetheless enjoyed being able to just lie in bed. It’s been forever…at least, it seems that way.

When I awoke again, I decided to kill time by listening to New Moon. I almost stopped because a few minutes into where I had left off last night, all the characters started coming down with the stomach flu.

I just chortled at the irony and kept it playing. The flu part of the story didn’t last long; and it wasn’t like I could eat anything anyway. *rolls eyes*

What’s really annoying is when I get sick like this and yet still (in some part of my body) feel hungry. I mean, does that make any sense at all? Nauseated and hungry at the same time?!

By the afternoon, I sick of flat, plain, gentle foods. Yesterday’s lasagna called my name seductively. I knew my stomach couldn’t handle that, but I asked Imah just in case. She laughed at me. Oh well. A girl can dream, can’t she?

And, hey, at least I got some ice cream out of this. That makes everything all better. *shut up, you stupid stomach!* Yep. All better.

Here’s some quizzes I took because I’m sick of being sick:

You Are An Orange Girl

You live in the fast lane. You love action, risk, and competition.
You’re spontaneous, enthusiastic, and persuasive.
But you’re also easily bored - and love to rebel against structures.
You resent rules … as well as people’s attempts to control you!

What Color Girl Are You?

What can I say? I have a split personality. An agressive side and a mild side. My mother once discussed me with a friend who turned out to be familiar with psychology and the like. He defined me as "passive aggressive". Yeah, that’s sounds about right; better than Imah’s term for me: "sly/sneaky".

I prefer a mostly peaceful existence with occasional breakouts. I’m not much of a risk taker, though (breaking Imah’s rules every once in a while is about as far as I’ll go).

But, yeah, I do have a thing about control. I guess I’ve just known too many controlling people and saw how they hurt people’s lives.

Your Nail Polish Color is Pink

How you’re unique: You’re girly without being high maintenance

Why your style rocks: You’re the perfect blend of stylish, preppy, and cute

What this color says about you: "I am secure enough not to follow every trend"

What Color Nail Polish Best Fits You?

Oo! My favorite color! (Despite my current fondness for dark reds).

I do think of myself as girly, and I am often complimented on my clothing style. I think my friends need a reminder not to puff my head up too much. I come complete with my own high ego, thanks.

Your Power Bird is an Eagle

You are spiritual and able to soar to great heights.
You are a true inspiration, and many people look to you for guidance.
And you are quite demanding in relationships… but you’re worth it.
People know that you will become even greater than you imagine.

What’s Your Power Bird?

I’m not so sure I’m a spiritual person so much as I’m fascinated by the spiritual realm. Yeah, my dreams and goals are often set (frustratingly) high. I hope to God no one looks to me for guidance. I’m still dealing with that rebel in me. I am demanding…but I’m so worth it. *wink* I only hope I can reach some of what I dream for my life.

You Are A Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Girl

Creative. Expressive. Unique.

What Flavor Ice Cream Girl Are You?

*smug shrug* What can I add to that?

Is it PMS or am I just tired?

Categories: My life, Work, Memes, Fitness

Friday’s Feast, Week 145:

Appetizer
Name a sound you like to hear. My bird clock.
Soup
What is your favorite kind of cheese? Mozzarella.
Salad
Do you sleep late on Saturday mornings? Why or why not? Not usually–I’m either watching cartoons or going to Puyallup with C4.
Main Course
When was the last time you forgot something?  What was it, and how long did it take to remember it? I forgot to put on my hat at work the other day and locked it in my locker. I ran to get when my manager pointed out its absence.
Dessert
Fill in the blank:  I notice guys when they dance (especially in public).

Friday Fill-in #22

1. 10 years at sea; one in the dock!
2. Why is the coffee gone!?
3. Here there be ice cream and cake!
4. Ah…the world does not know my power. emoticon
5. The translation from the ancient scripts must be true.
6. Of course it (ice cream) makes you happy.
7. This weekend, I will sow chaos, panic, and maybe even disorder! Happy Memorial Day!

So, I’ve been pretty crabby this week. That glorious energy of last week, alas! is no more. I haven’t been getting much sleep either. Despite how sleepy I’ve been, I’m having trouble getting to sleep. Could that be why I’m crabby? emoticon  Although, it could be PMS (it could totally be PMS). emoticon

My uncle Ollie arrived Monday to spend an extended visit with us. Let’s just say he’s living with us because when we move (to a new apartment complex next month–surprise!), he’ll be helping out with the rent. I often find Imah’s surprises inconvenient if not unpleasant, but the whole "we’re moving in a few weeks even though I said we wouldn’t be moving anytime before the fall" has just shocked me. It isn’t so bad, though. I’ll have to quit my current job (of which I am quite bored if not plain sick) and I’ll be a mere two miles from my beloved Girlz. *bliss*

I’m really glad Ollie’s with us, too. He’s an invalid, and Imah must focus her obsessive/compulsive-ness on taking care of him instead of using it too hen-peck me. I know; I’m selfish. Seriously, though, it’s nice having a third person around to keep us off each other’s throats.

Oh, so last night, I finally got the hang of the hula hoop! I’m so happy! Between doing that, dancing, my regular exercises, and maybe some biking and walking, I should be back to my Halle Berry hotness in no time. emoticon

Do the Hula–Hoop!

Categories: My life, Work, Fitness

I’m so excited–it evens overrides the fact that I’ve lost my dance CD (ok, that’ll knock me over the head soon). I bought myself a hula hoop last night!! Oh yeah, it brings back childhood memories (I know some of you are laughing at me–a young woman in her early twenties–talking about her  childhood years of "long ago". Good. I like it when people laugh. emoticon)

I’m just bubbling with excitement. I tried the hula hoop out before going to bed (figuring I wouldn’t be able to go to sleep without doing so) and utterly failed. It was pitiful. But I am optimistic. I’ve checked out some how-to sites (emoticon) and had my excitement renew because I realized–Guess what!–hula hooping is good exercise!! And it works on your abs, which, as a bellydancer wannabe, is the part of my body I’m focusing on.

Anyway, I am officially a leasing agent for the apartments where Imah works. I’m feeling a little less excited about that because I got a taste yesterday of the cleaning we have to when people move out. We didn’t finish the one we spent nearly all day on and we have 12 apartments left! Ugh. I’m sure the soreness of the work will hit me today.

I nearly forgot: because of my new job and the opportunities it opens to me, Imah has decided (for the most part–can’t really tell with her) to postpone moving…uh, to the Washington/Oregon border. We may, however, move to the apartments where we work. Maybe. It depends on if it will actually save us money and be generally beneficial. Still, I’d be closer to my Girlz. That would cool.

One last thing (and, yes, it excites me). I ordered a couple pairs of "arm warmers" online the other day. They’re fishnet; one’s black and the other’s white. They should be here any day. I’m practically glued to the door watching for that box. I can’t wait!!! emoticon

Longing for Tomorrow

Categories: My life, Friends, Work, Memes, Health

Friday’s Feast 142:

Appetizer
Name something you would not want to own. A pit bull (*shrug* the topic came up today. I have my reasons).

Soup
Describe your hair (texture, color, length, etc.). Ok, think Halle Berry in Die Another Day–just like that but curlier.

Salad
Finish this sentence: I’ll never forget Ty (my pet, my baby, my best friend, my guardian angel).

Main Course
Which famous person would you like to be for one day? Why? Halle Berry. Why? Because she’s gorgeous, rich, and awesome!

Dessert
Write one sentence about yourself that includes one thing that is true and another thing that is not. I love rollerblading because of the adrenaline rush it gives me (I do like rollerblading, but if I go too fast it’s more like raw terror. I don’t like adrenaline rushes.).

Friday Fun: Friday Firsts

This morning,…

1. What is the first thing you did? Stared blankly at the alarm wondering why it was making a funny noise (yeah, I’m not a morning person).
2. What was the first thing you ate? Technically, my allergy pills, but I had scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast.
3. Who was the first person you spoke to? Imah.
4. What was the first thing you thought of? Tissue. My nose was so plugged up.
5. What gave you your first smile? Thinking of tomorrow. *sigh*
6. What is the first thing you did for yourself? Uh…showered…with steaming hot water. Mm. Good.

Friday Fill-in #19:

1. I love tons of cream and sugar with my coffee/tea/etc.
2. My wubby can’t arrive too fast!
3. My friend, Josi, is destined to engage me in a fight to the death. LOL!
4. Days like today when the sky is sketched with clouds and the weather is breezy are so awesome!
5. I am still annoyed with your stupidity. (Similar to an avatar of mine.) emoticon
6. Daffodils are my favorite spring flowers.
7. This weekend, I’m relaxing at home and hanging out with my wubby when he gets off work.

Friday Fiver: Horses and Tequila

1. Do you gamble? Only on Chanukkah. ;)

2. Have you ever rode a horse? Never. I remember when I saw one up close for the first time. "Wow. They’re bigger than they appear in the movies!" emoticon

3. Do you drink alcohol? Wine, occasionally.

4. What is your favorite Mexican food? Spicy nachos! LOL!

5. On Saturday, I plan to spend time with my wubby. emoticon

Whew! I’ve done so many memes, I don’t really feel like blogging any more. Nothing’s happened since yesterday anyway.

I worked a nice, long shift and came home nauseous from all the cough drops I’d taken. And do you think they helped? Humph! I tried drinking a bunch of water for the cough, but my bladder didn’t take too kindly to that. By the way my cough is, I think my "cold" is turning into bronchitis. Ick. I’m a freaking biohazard!!

Be afraid…I might cough too closely to you. emoticon

Now, I’m going to try to get out of going to synogogue tonight. I’ll only be miserably coughing and blowing my nose and feeling totally self-conscious of my unpleasant noises. For various reasons, I’m staying in town this weekend (heh, great time for being sick!).

For tonight…tonight I shall dream of spending time with my wubby tomorrow. *sigh* emoticon

Farewell and Shabbat Shalom!

Tissue Please?

Booking Through Thursday: R.I.P

No, not that kind of R.I.P.

Reading. In. Public.

Do you do it? Why or why not? I do it all the time. Why? One: I’m an obsessive reader. Two: Reading often inspires my own writing. Three: What else am I to do during those boring moments in life when I compelled to wait in line?

I’m so dopey today. I’m not even sure if it’s the "cold" or the pills I’m taking for the cold (or the pills I’m taking partly for the "cold" and partly to reverse the drowsiness caused by the pills I’m taking for the "cold". Did you get all that? emoticon).

Despite that, I had my nails re-done. They’re a very pretty, glittery shade of violet–a little on the dark side, of course. No design this time. This shade is hot enough on its own, anyway.

Finally got around to renewing my permit. The picture taking was so fast; I look absurdly goofy because I wasn’t ready (the guy says something funny, I smile, and he takes the picture–I barely had time to look at the camera!). emoticon

Then, we did some minor errands including the library. My Girls have currently have me hooked on the Obernewtyn Chronicles. The first book started a little slowly, but when I realized mind/psychic powers were involved, I couldn’t put it down. I love stuff like that.

Speaking of powers, I’m chomping at the bit to see Spiderman 3. Seriously, I can’t look at the theaters because when I see that movie up there, I flip. I want to see it so badly! Unfortunately, I’ve been spending too much lately–and so has my wubby with whom I intend on watching the movie.

I’m also looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean 3, the Fantastic Four sequel, and Evan Almighty (that actor is hilarious in The Office!). I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting but Spidey and Pirates are my main focus right now…movie-wise, that is.

Tomorrow, I work a nice long shift and then go to Erev Shabbat service. Saturday, I’m staying home. I’ll need to actually rest that day because I’m working again on Sunday. *shrug* I’m ambivalent about working on Sunday. It can be the best or the worse day on which to work.

I fear I must go to bed soon–early shift in the morning. So, I leave you with my

Farewell! (Oh…and you hand over the tissue and cough drops, please?)

Say What?

Categories: Work, Health

Say What?

Haha. That’s a typed laugh not a real one. It isn’t exactly that I’ve lost humor. No, I’ve just lost my voice. My co-workers think it’s hilarious. I not so much. Besides my smile, my voice is my most important asset to my job. I couldn’t work my full shift yesterday because of it! emoticon

However, I am determined. Half my shift is stocking the store for the day, and I don’t need my voice for that. Why call in sick when I feel perfectly fine? Of course, without a voice I couldn’t call in anyway. emoticon

Unfortunately, I now have a sinus infection on top of the laryngitis. Yay.

I have nothing more (nice) to say.

Farewell!

Spring vs. Me

Round 1: Spring, 1 point. Me, 0.

Wow. I’m in the process of recovering from an allergy cold and was worried yesterday that I might be somewhat of a drag. So, it was with some interest that I went through the day meeting one sick friend and another. C4 had it so badly that I’m surprised she went on with the play–but she was determined to get it over with. I wish it could have turned out better for all her efforts. I think she might have been too sick to care much, though. I must give her siblings a standing ovation for helping her out. I feel guilty for not participating myself, but I didn’t expect to be going so often. I only go to Puyallup with my friends if I don’t have to work the next day. It just turns out that my employers have given me the last few Sundays off–a fact which quite stuns Imah.

That reminds me: it looks like I shall be moving away from my friends. I, who love my home in the Pacific Northwest, may be moving with Imah to somewhere around the Washington/Oregon border to be closer to family. Imah’s mother and brother aren’t doing well physically, so she wants to near them and help take care of them. I have been desperately looking for a way out. Imah keeps warning me not to plan anything behind her back. *shrug* Well…Imah schemes up all sorts of wild dreams and ideas–most of which have not come to pass (hence my cynical side). I mean, our finances have been dramatically reduced. How will we even pay for the move in the first place? Still, she scares me–looking houses, stores, places to work, and even libraries in the area down there. I’m not even all that close to my family. My chances of becoming so–not being the most sociable creature in the world–are might slim.

Well, aren’t we cheery? I’m going to move on the memes before I depress myself.

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 217 :

  1. Trembling :: …lip (good tactic for sympathy) emoticon
  2. Shut up :: Get in. Sit down. Hold on. Shut up. (One of my favorite bumper stickers!)
  3. Heights :: River… (where Nancy Drew lives. I used to love reading those books.)
  4. Monica :: …N.J. (an old friend)
  5. Delicious :: Red…
  6. Joint :: …custody (I know…too much Law & Order.)
  7. Ferry :: docks
  8. Bliss :: ignorance
  9. Rejection :: jilted lover (Why I thought of that, I have no idea.)
  10. Satisfying :: ice cream. Mm.

randomness…feed your mind and your blog

Week of April 1st: April showers bring May flowers

Well, Spring has finally arrived, how do you feel? *grmph* Could you give me a tissue, please?

Has it been a long hard winter for you? No. This was the awesomest winter ever!

Does the beautiful spring weather put you in a good mood? No! I see the lovely sunshine, dash outside, and immediately freeze. Blast you, cruel nature!!

Some people do spring cleaning, some suffer from seasonal allergies, and others just dont care at all. How do you feel about Springtime? Shut up and hand over the allergy pills. (No, I don’t care much for spring. It’s just a torturous interval between my more beloved seasons.)

Sooo…It turns out Imah was right about my going out with friends yesterday. *razz to Imah* Just hand over the meds and your silly, homemade cures, ok? *sneeze* *hack hack*
