Sometimes, random isn’t so random

Categories: Random

Unconscious Mutterings, week 293:

  1. House :: new…I hope I like it.
  2. Think :: Don’t hurt yourself. ;D
  3. Clot ::Blood…
  4. Believe me :: Be wary of people who say this too often. Although, “trust me” is usually worse.
  5. Fumigation :: Not a pretty way to go.
  6. Bore :: I resent boring teachers. Whether a topic is interesting or not is often in the presentation. If one cannot present it in an interesting manner, they SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING IT!! Just saying.
  7. Luck :: Horseshoe–especially if I’m being mugged. His knife versus my horseshoe? He doesn’t have a chance.
  8. Patient :: I am not the one.
  9. Tremors :: earthquake
  10. Pickles :: sour, crunchy, juicy…mm, mm!

9.7 random word association
I say… you think

1. pink: think…!
2. shoe: can’t have too many!
3. zebra: I’d like to have a zebra print vest–or maybe pants.
4. school: horrors
5. button: lost another one
6. kiss: SWAK
7. over: Not til the fat lady sings!
8. pool: miss having one
9. run: mile
10. seven: lucky

I got my sword on Thursday. Everyone’s asking me WHY did I get it? Imah asked me with a look of horror on her face–like she was afraid I’d use it on her in her sleep. While it IS a functioning sword, I got it merely for the beauty of it. I love its white handle in the shape of a leaping tiger. I’m thinking of placing it above my bed, though I have already considered the dangers should it fall.

That reminds me: it’s official. I am moving. Away from my friends, sadly, but closer to a bigger city–and my Prince. My bedroom is nice and roomy, its master bathroom is HUGE (to me) and the bathtub…oh mercy. I thought my bubble baths couldn’t possibly get any better. Should I get my own home someday, I will insist upon having a garden tub. It’s awesome!!!

All for now! I’m going to be extremely busy for the rest of the month!

quiz time

Categories: Random

I am bored. And SOOOO ready for Friday. So here are some quizzes. I think I should I should be commenting more often on the quizzes I post.

You Are Ballet

You are quite introverted. You enjoy keeping to yourself and cultivating your talents.

You are dedicated and focused. If practice makes perfect, you’re willing to keep practicing.

While some people may dismiss you as boring, you can be quite edgy and interesting.

You can fit in almost anywhere… and your style ranges from conservative to funky.

What Dance Are You?

I agree. I will practice/study something I am passionate about until I have it down perfectly. Being somewhat of a perfectionist, I am never satisfied.
As I enjoy researching and studying (the things I love), I am at times rather boring. I suppose I COULD fit in anywhere if I tried. I just don’t try. The desire to fit in is not part of my personality. Every once in a while I get the urge to fit in. Then I come to my senses and ask myself “What was I thinking?!”
But, yeah, my style does have a broad range.

You Live in the Present

You take things one day at a time.

And it turns out, that’s a pretty great way to live.

You aren’t consumed by the past, and you’re aren’t obsessed with the future.

You live in the now, and you enjoy each moment.

While most people don’t live in the present enough, make sure you don’t live in it too much.

It would be a mistake to forget your past or neglect to plan for the future.

Do You Live in the Past, Present, or Future?

I don’t have anything to add. I just have to learn from the mistakes of my past and to prepare for what may come in the future.

You Are a Yellow Crayon

Your world is colored with happy, warm, fun colors.

You have a thoughtful and wise way about you. Some people might even consider you a genius.

Charming and eloquent, you are able to get people to do things your way.

While you seem spontaneous and free wheeling, you are calculating to the extreme.

Your color wheel opposite is purple. You both are charismatic leaders, but purple people act like you have no depth.

What Color Crayon Are You?

While I am a cheerful person by nature, I am also prone to bouts of depression–especially at certain times of the month if you know what I mean. I’m not very good at using my charm; it just comes out when I’m in a good mood. I don’t think I’m eloquent at all. As for being wise and thoughtful, that just ties in with my being calculating. My mother calls it being devious. I seem shallow only because I usually hide my depth.

Your Beauty Element is Earth

You are the epitome of a natural beauty. Your look is definitely effortless.

And while you shy away from a lot of make-up and accessories, you’re no granola girl either!

What’s Your Beauty Element?

Why thank you! Yeah, I’m a big believer in natural beauty. Don’t care for make-up.

Your Power Element is Metal

Your power colors: white, gold, and silver

Your energy: contracting

Your season: fall

You are persistent (and maybe even a little bit stubborn).

If you see something you want, you go for it.

You have a lot of strength, and it’s difficult to get you down.

Very logical, you tend to analyze everything going on in your life.

What’s Your Power Element?

I love white and gold! Contracting…as in introverted? Yeah. And fall is my favorite season! Persistent, stubborn? I prefer the term tenacious. Though I don’t consider myself all that logical, I have been told I think too much.

You Are Cheesecake

Rich, sweet, and simply perfect.

You’re not boring - you’re just the best!

What Dessert Are You Most Like?

*applause!*

week of august 17: pet peeves
we all have things that annoy us, so this week vent them!
what really annoys you, makes you wanna rip your hair out and scream?!
name your top 3 pet peeves:
1. Reckless driving (whether too fast or too slow)
2. TV commercials
3. People imposing their opinions and beliefs on others.

I am so groggy. I stayed up with my Systers of the Grand Cauldron of Mischief watching movies til 4 this morning. Then, I wake up and it’s 4 in the afternoon! I was shocked. I’ve never slept in that late–no matter how late I stayed up the night before. Ugh. So much of my day gone! Oh well. I had fun w/ my girls this weekend.

Insanity follows me like a shadow puppy dog

Categories: Random

My job is driving me crazy.

Why can’t I be like some people and just schmooze people out of their problems?

If
it weren’t for the crazy people I have on my “team” I don’t know what
I’d do. They’re really funny and just weird enough that I fit in pretty
well. My first day, it was the purple-haired, overly-pierced dwarf-girl
and the flamboyant gay guy that made me feel most welcome.

Laughing 19
LOL! My teammates are awesome! And, as I work a late night shift,
everything’s really laid back. My last hour yesterday, I didn’t take a
single call. My teammates all chatted about near-death experiences.

IM’ing and texting - mental illness?

I thought this was really interesting:

Excessive texting may be a mental illness. So, if someone gets diagnosed with this “illness,” does that mean s/he gets free “happy” pills? Just curious.

Speaking of texting, I thought this was cool, too: Netlingo is like a dictionary for the new language of SMS. I myself am too much of a stickler for grammar and spelling to use this sort of thing. On the rare occasion, I will use acronyms, but usually I spell everything out properly. Maybe it’s the writer in me. Who wants to read a novel in text lingo?

  2. Cage :: Sometimes, I feel like I’m in one.
  3. Buddy :: best..
  4. Magic words :: “please” and “thank you”
  5. Library :: It used to be one of my favorite places, now I enjoy the online/virtual library.
  6. Fall in love :: Yes, I have.
  7. Tense :: I tend to be.
  8. Work! :: Why the hell is there an exclamation point there? It can’t be for excitement. It must be a sign of panic.
  9. Empty :: How I felt after seeing The Happening.
  10. Heat wave :: Time for ice cream!!

This week’s questions are book related….

1. Who are your favorite authors? Stephanie Meyer, Frank Herbert, Dean Koontz, Patrick McManus, Kay Hooper, James Herriot, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Richard Preston.
2. What are your favorite books? Twilight (Stephanie Meyer), The Hot Zone (Richard Preston), and The Dune Chronicles (Frank Hebert).
3. What kind of books do you tend to read? Sci-fi, Romance, Mystery…etc…? I enjoy supernatural thrillers, fantasy, and sci-fi. I also like classic literature.
4. Do you prefer to borrow books from the library or buy them? Borrow from the library.
5. Do you prefer hardcover or paperback? Hardcover looks nicer, but as someone who is always carrying a book around, I prefer paperback. Not only is it cheaper, but it weighs less than its hardcover counterpart.
6. What was the last book you read? What are you reading now? The last book I read was God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert. I am now reading Arabian Nights.
7. Do you read everyday? Usually.
8. On average how many books do you read per year? Oh geez. A minimum of 12.
9. Do you belong to any book clubs? No.
10. Recommend a good book. I recommend Arabian Nights. Also, The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

Got to see my Prince this weekend!! It was so fun! He came over and watched Enchanted, Ice Age - The Meltdown, and The Incredibles with me. Enchanted was the only one I’ve seen before. My Girlz told my Prince I need a daily dosage of movies because I’ve seen so few. LOL! So, they let me borrow theirs whenever I can. And Prince always brings some of his when he comes over. This time he brought these awesome foreign films featuring muay thai martial artists. Wow. It puts American martial arts to shame. Wow.

All for now. Must do laundry and prepare for my last week at this job. I start my new job July 1st!!

Your Skin is Ready

Categories: Random, My life, My Prince

The Prince is fitting into my family quite well. Yesterday, he came over and cooked for us. Spicy chicken, spicy rice, spicy cabbage soup. Mmm. He’s the best cook ever! Anyway, he and I don’t like the skins on the chicken, so Imah (who loves them) took them off and cooked them separately. Later, my Prince went into the kitchen to check on his food. He called to Imah: "Your skin is ready!" and then burst out laughing because "it sounds funny." Yes, it did. Imagine walking in and hearing that–out of context. LOL!

Yes, he’s fitting right in.

Being Woman

Categories: Random, Memes

I desperately need to distract myself…

My 10 Reasons Why It’s Great to be a Woman:

  1. Cuter clothing.
  2. Ladies’ Night: free food, free drinks, free flowers
  3. Speeding ticket? What’s that?
  4. New shoes can change your life.
  5. You can hug your friend without wondering if she thinks you’re gay.
  6. If you’re dumb (or happen to do something dumb), some people will find it cute.
  7. You can use PMS as an excuse for being crabby (I use it every week of the month. LOL!)
  8. You don’t get judged for having ear piercings.
  9. If you forget to shave, no one has to know.
  10. Women are generally trusted more than men are.

Reasons Why It Sucks to be a Woman

  1. Menstruation (especially mine–could giving birth possibly be worse?! Please, don’t answer that.)
  2. Giving birth (the process).
  3. Morning sickness.
  4. We’re not considered as smart as men.
  5. We’re not generally as strong.
  6. Speaking of the weaker sex, isn’t it annoying being called that?
  7. Bad hair days (with guys it’s excusable–even funny).
  8. If we stay home with our kids, we don’t deserve respect; if we work outside the home, we don’t care about our children.
  9. Gee…I can’t think of any more. It must not be so bad, after all.

Dessert
What do you consider the ideal age to have a first child? 25–or somewhere around that.

week of August 26: Farewell Summer

Well, this is it. Summer is nearly finished. That was fast.

What have you done this summer? A little of everything, I imagine.

Did you go for a vacation? No–that’s happening this Tuesday!!

Did you work? All the time.

Did you have a fling? …Yeah.

How was your summer and are you happy or sad to see it end? It was…fast! Wow! However, weather-wise, I’m glad to see it end. Bring on the rain! (…er, after my outdoor dance party.)

My dance party is tomorrow evening!! My road trip to Sol Duc is the following day. Yeah, baby! This is the biggest thing ever!! (Sorry, 21st birthday. There’s no way you can beat this!)
