The Last of November

Categories: My life, Memes

Friday’s Feast 170:

Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride? The carousel–that’s about all I can handle.

Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations? How do you think? I laugh.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics? Depends on my mood and the actual topic, but I’d give it an 8.

Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to? No and no.

Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television? 3: 1 hour for Heroes; 1 hour for Bones; 1 hour for House.

Friday Fill-in #48:

1. When my blog is broken, I may freak out but then I fix it.
2. I saw the most amazing sunrise this morning! (Actually, it was earlier this week.)
3. Beowulf is the new movie I’m most looking forward to seeing. (Nothing good enough to coax me to the theaters, though. I’ll just wait until it comes out on DVD.)
4. Work: Necessary and evil. (LOL! Kidding!)
5. Of all the new tv shows, I enjoy Heroes the most. (Heroes isn’t new anymore, I realize, but I don’t like anything newer.)
6. If only it would snow.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to shul, tomorrow my plans include coffee highs and Sunday, I want to meme!

Oh! The mixed feelings. I love November. I almost hate for it to end. But end it must if I want the future to come. I do want it to come. Oh, how I do want it. I’m going to be a very busy lady this winter season (for the next two months, to be precise). Good thing, though. I won’t suffer from the pressure of waiting if I can keep busy.

All for now! Shalom!

Being Woman

Categories: Random, Memes

I desperately need to distract myself…

My 10 Reasons Why It’s Great to be a Woman:

  1. Cuter clothing.
  2. Ladies’ Night: free food, free drinks, free flowers
  3. Speeding ticket? What’s that?
  4. New shoes can change your life.
  5. You can hug your friend without wondering if she thinks you’re gay.
  6. If you’re dumb (or happen to do something dumb), some people will find it cute.
  7. You can use PMS as an excuse for being crabby (I use it every week of the month. LOL!)
  8. You don’t get judged for having ear piercings.
  9. If you forget to shave, no one has to know.
  10. Women are generally trusted more than men are.

Reasons Why It Sucks to be a Woman

  1. Menstruation (especially mine–could giving birth possibly be worse?! Please, don’t answer that.)
  2. Giving birth (the process).
  3. Morning sickness.
  4. We’re not considered as smart as men.
  5. We’re not generally as strong.
  6. Speaking of the weaker sex, isn’t it annoying being called that?
  7. Bad hair days (with guys it’s excusable–even funny).
  8. If we stay home with our kids, we don’t deserve respect; if we work outside the home, we don’t care about our children.
  9. Gee…I can’t think of any more. It must not be so bad, after all.

week of November 25: Giving & Getting Gifts

With the holidays upon us again, lots of us are doing gift shopping. Now lets blog about it.

1. Do you prefer to shop in stores or on the internet? Internet. It’s more precise; I know exactly what I want and I go for it. I hate dodging crowds of people who really don’t know what they’re doing. (I hope I don’t drive like I shop.)

2. Who on your gift list is the hardest to shop for? Imah, I’d say.

3. About how much do you end up spending during holiday gift shopping? Oh, I don’t want to think about it.

4. What is the best holiday gift you have ever received? A day with a friend. The worst? Fortunately, I can’t remember any bad gifts.

5. What gift do you want this year? A better future. (What I really want, I won’t get this year.)

Just a note before I go to bed (because I’ve been cheating myself out of sleep again), I’ve been working on getting my novel updated on Scroll Keeper Sagas. Please, my Girls, enjoy!

*yawn* So much I want to do, so little time. I like the quote from the old movie Journey to the Center of the Earth (James Mason, Pat Boone and Arlene Dahl): "I don’t sleep. I hate those little slices of death."

I agree. Sleep is a big waste of time. But, boy, do I fall apart without it!

Shalom and laila tov!

The Wait is Over!

Categories: My life, Friends, Pics

Scene from Aladdin: After years (maybe even centuries?), Jafar (by devious means) has posession of the magic lamp. In triumph, he bellows, "AT LAAAAAAAAAST!!!"

That’s exactly how I reacted…once I was far enough from the public to keep from frightening them.

Yochi’s gift finally came!! At last! The waiting is over!

Allow me to share his gifts…

Three patches:

Two perfumes. The tall, blue/pink one (on the left) is french: Island Kiss. The shorter one (on the right) is called Arabian Nights.

And last (but certainly not least), the bracelet. Stunning, huh?

*sigh* Gifts from the brave and noble Prince of Arrakis. I’m going to go enjoy them now–the gifts and the letter.

I’m messing around with my blog again. Just thought I’d like you all know. You may have some trouble commenting…

*edit* *hours later* Ok, so, I’ve set up Haloscan for comments. Really all this does is enable gravatars. Let me know if you think the change is worth it. I’m not sure.

week of November 18: Giving Thanks

With Turkey Day so near, lets blog about it!

1. How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? I get together with family, eat, and play various games.

2. Do you cook or go out to eat? Cook. Always.

3. What has been the best Thanksgiving for you? The worst? Fortunately, I don’t think I’ve had a bad Thanksgiving. My Thanksgivings are calm and relaxing. They’re the best when my sister cooks.

4. What are you thankful for? Most of all? That would be my pen-pal, Yochi.

5. Any special traditions you do? See #1.

an extra sidedish this week:

1. cranberry sauce or gravy? Mm, gravy!

2. white meat or dark? Dark, definitely.

3. yams, with or without marshmallows? With, please!

4. stuffing or no stuffing? What?! No stuffing? Are you nuts?

5. pumpkin pie or apple pie? Oh, that’s a cruel thing to ask. Ok, with whipped cream–pumpkin pie; with ice cream–apple pie.

Grr. I was really hoping Yochi’s present would come today. Now, I have to wait til Monday. I guess that’s fair, though, since I’m sending his on Monday. It’s just seems like my life is full of waiting right now.

My Evil Twin is in Georgia; she’ll be back on Monday, and she promised to go ice skating with me.

Her Majesty and Tigger have yet to grace me with their presence (and their presents, as a matter of fact). Plus, they still have my favorite dance CD with them. Well, at least they’re going to reburn it for me. It was a little messed up. That’s nice of them.

Then, my sister calls me up today and tells me she has presents for me–she’ll bring them when she comes over on Thanksgiving. Of course she won’t tell me what they are.

Don’t you people think I’ve waited enough already?! It’s not like patience is my strong point. Far from it. Grr. I’m done. Done with the waiting. So there.

I’ve got to go now. I’m waiting for Yochi’s next email.

Friday Fiasco

Categories: My life, Memes, Weather, Holidays

Friday’s Feast 169:

Appetizer
What was your first “real” job? Tutoring kids during the summer. I was paid $20-50 a day.

Soup
Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity? I’d go to my bedroom and crank up the music (the question is: Do I feel like Andrew Lloyd Weber or Queen? I told you I have a broad taste in music).

Salad
Complete this sentence: I am embarrassed when…I do something that makes me look stupid. Then, I laugh.

Main Course
What values did your parents instill in you? Respect your elders, wash your hands often, boys are DANGEROUS. LOL!

Dessert
Name 3 fads from your teenage years. I wasn’t really into fads when I was a teen. The few times I was interested in one, Imah nipped it in the bud. Now, however, I am into fashion arm warmers (especially fishnet), princess stuff, and my camera phone (those are kind of faddish).

Friday5: So Why Don’t You Slide?

  1. Where is the nearest playground slide? I can see one from the majestic view of my window.
  2. What’s something you recently let slide? An inappropriate comment.
  3. Who recently let slide something you did? Imah (that doesn’t happen often).
  4. Where is the nearest water slide? Wherever I chose to make it! Hahaha!
  5. When did you last slide down a pole, a rope, or an embankment? Um, I got my friends to roll down an embankment during my birthday party. That was so fun!

Friday Fill-in #46:

1. The things I give thanks for this Thanksgiving are family and food. What could be better? ;)
2. My Thanksgiving traditions include visiting with the family I rarely see, making the cooks feel their food is superior to any famous chef, watching the family play Pit (from a safe distance–maybe with some headphones on).
3. The best part about Thanksgiving is the food.
4. My favorite Thanksgiving food is: oh dear, I can’t answer that! It’s all so good!!
5. Wearing the gravy was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me on Thanksgiving.
6. After the meal, I sprawl in front of the TV. When I’m done eating, I can’t move too much.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to bed, tomorrow my plans include waiting for my special package and Sunday, I want to prepare the welcome-back gift for My Evil Twin!

Well, this has been an interesting week. I think my impatience for a certain gift is taking its toll on me. The beginning of this week, I was cheery, chipper, perky, irrepressible. Yesterday and today, nothing can go right. I couldn’t be more accident prone if I was doing it on purpose! Plus, yesterday, I had several crabby customers. It was probably because it was raining cats and dogs, but geez, don’t take it out on me! I nearly cried but instead ground my teeth together. You’ll not see my tears, you crabs!

Now (having decorated the kitchen with raw egg in my pitiful attempt to make breakfast), I fear today will be very much the same. At least I haven’t fallen down the stairs…a second time.

Shalom and Happy Thanksgiving!

Duchess of Dance Haven

Categories: My life, Dance, Fitness

I’ve been brooding for a while over my Duchess of Darkhaven title. While Darkhaven sounds cool, there is a definite darkness to it. Darkness is something I’m trying to get away from. I don’t like what it does to me. How it makes me look and act.

I’ll never get away from it entirely. Of course not. No one does. But to just sit there and let it in. No…to openly invite it in. Uh-uh. No way.

The chalkboard in my room (which will eventually get replaced by a whiteboard) is covered with my brainstormed ideas. I’ll leave those ideas to your imagination because my brainstorms aren’t very glamorous.

It wasn’t until last night that something amazing popped into my head. I felt so stupid for not thinking of it sooner. (That how it happens. It just pops in my head!) Duh! I dance all the time (at least, I used to). Imah calls me the Dancing Malka (dancing queen).

DANCE HAVEN!!

Oh yeah. It fits. It rocks. It’s so me. My room is a haven. When I am finished with it (still need to put the mirrors up and find some pink carpet), one can enter and discover themselves transported into another world. That’s the goal, the intent, of my room. Plus, I also want it to have a royal and dance studio effect. Imah thinks I should get one of those bars they use in ballet classes. I think that’s going too far.

Though my friends tend to scoff when I mention it, I was one of the worst ones in my ballet classes. I didn’t like it until after I left. Then (continuing the exercises and stretches at home), I noticed I was one of the most physically fit at my junior high. Sad…but funny.

Anyway, back to the main topic: Duchess of Dance Haven fits. It works. It is so me. Muahahaha!

Friday’s Feast 168:

Appetizer
Which snack do you like to get when you go to the movies? Sour Patch Kids.

Soup
What year did you start using the internet? Oh wow. Sometime in the 20th century.

Salad
What is your first name in Pig Latin? (Here’s how to speak it if you don’t already know!) rincesspay affayay!

Main Course
Name something you are picky about. Food. LOL!

Dessert
Fill in the blanks: I was moody yesterday and I am chipper today.

Friday5.org: Just Hanging

  1. What’s something that’s hanging from your ceiling? My chandelier!! Isn’t it beautiful? Thanks to the All-Talented Hacker for installing it for me! ;)
  1. What’s something that’s hanging on your wall? Two front page news articles: one of Sarah Hughes winning Gold in Womens’ Figure Skating and one of Sasha Cohen winning Gold for the same (four years later).
  2. What’s something that’s hanging in your closet? Lots of pretty, pretty hats.
  3. What’s hanging from your rear-view mirror? (for those without cars, what’s something hanging from the rear-view mirror of a car you’ve recently ridden in?) Sticky notes. (Please, Imah; you’re not Cruella de Vil, so don’t drive like her.) *chuckle*
  4. What have you been hanging onto for too long? That gargantuan Dumbo I got when I went to Disneyland in the first grade. Seriously, I want to get rid of the monstrosity.
Friday Fill-ins #45:

1. Plans and schedules are excellent organization tools.

2. I’m happy when things go right (which, I admit, is not always how *I* want).

3. The last thing I drank was diet coke (I’m going off sugar again–stupid mood swings).

4. One of the most valuable things in my life is my imagination. Without it, how could I write?

5. I like LOTS of cheese on my pizza.

6. Dear November, please bring lots of rain, plenty of snow, and cause my friends to be bored out of their minds. (My friends: Hey! Let’s go visit the Princess! She’s always entertaining!)

7. And as for the weekend, Friday I’m looking forward to synagogue, Saturday my plans include mischief and Sunday, I want to dance (in my bedroom, if necessary)!
