The Rest is Still Unwritten

Categories: Memes, Writing, LR, Books

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 243:

  1. Crook :: …or by nook
  2. Career :: …woman
  3. Freckles :: cute
  4. Scramble :: the best kind of eggs
  5. Mistake :: Make sure it’s really your friend’s brother you’re yelling at on the phone–not their DAD! (Got to be one of my top most embarrassing moments ever.)
  6. Telephone :: Interesting game when you’ve got enough people.
  7. Thank you :: That is what "Todah" means. (toe…duh!) emoticon
  8. Obstruction :: traffic.  Oh! That totally reminds me of a pic I found today
  9. 24/7 ::  TOO…MUCH…COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. SciFi :: I love it. Firefly/Serenity. Star Wars. The Core. A friend is getting me interested in Eureka.

Wow. I am beyond words. Ok. That’s not really true. If it was, I wouldn’t be blogging right now. Anyway, I just finished reading Eclipse this evening after work. Wow. Wow. Wow. Oh. I said that already. It was incredible!! I can’t wait for Breaking Dawn!!! (When is it coming out? A whole freaking year?!?!)

Good thing I have something else to take up my attention.  Something I’m even more obsessive about. Something that had me hyperventilating just a little while ago… my novel.

I just finished typing up the final battle scene (I like to write my stories by hand and then type them up) and it hit me: I’m finished. Done. The story’s over. All I have left is the epilogue–the final wrap-up and the laying of the foundation for volume two.

Hence the hyperventilation.

I’ve never actually written and finished a novel before. Short stories, sure. I’ve even got some novels in the back-log that have been fully outlined.  But not written. Not finished.

True, I’m not actually finished yet, but I’m not about to stop. After all, volume 2 is my favorite in the series.  So, I have a strong motivation. Plus, there’s that other series I want to do…er, two other series. My back-log of stories is more like a flood.

I just can’t believe I’m this close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goodbye words–hello happy-dance!

Friday’s Feast 162

Categories: Work, Memes

Friday’s Feast 162:

Appetizer
How are you today? Honestly? A little slow.

Soup
Name 3 television shows you watch on a regular basis. House, Bones, Heroes.

Salad
What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced? Thunderstorms. They terrify me…and yet, they’re beginning to fascinate me.

Main Course
If you could wake up tomorrow morning in another country, where would you want to be? Israel.

Dessert
What do you usually wear to sleep? …pjs. (If I deem it cute–or if it’s pink–I like it!)

Blah. What a week. I had fun at work, but it was all too short. The rest of my week was blah. And bleh. Yeah, definitely some bleh, too. I’m glad tomorrow’s Friday. I hope my favorite co-workers are at work tomorrow!

Shalom and farewell. Have a great weekend!

  5. Gooey :: sticky yet yummy.
  6. Industry :: high, shiny skyscrapers
  7. Exclusive :: club
  8. Warranty :: Is this valid if I drop my phone in the toilet?

  10. Heels :: My new ones. See the pic below.

week of sept 23: Do you prefer…

1. day or night? Night…that’s when I come alive!

2. chocolate or vanilla? Vanilla rules, baby.

3. coffee or tea? COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. renting a movie and staying home or going out to the theater? Staying home. That way I can scream, laugh for an obnoxiously long period of time, pause to use the bathroom, etc.

5. regular books or audio books? Wow. Um. I’m finding that I really enjoy audio books. I practically can’t go to sleep anymore without some voice talking. Every once in a while, though, I get a reader with a voice I can’t stand. It really ruins a book I may have otherwise liked.

6. driving to a faroff destination or just taking an airplane? Roadtrip!!

7. hamburger or hotdogs? Egh. What’s wrong with chicken? Hehe. I like hotdogs if they’re spicy.

8. listening to music or watching tv? Listening to music!!!

9. Desperate Housewives or Survivor? (both are tv shows) *click* Oo! House!

10. homecooked meal or fancy restaurant? Homecooked. Hands down. All the way.

I got a little picture-happy with my new phone’s digital camera the other day. Most of the stuff I posted on my myspace photo albums, though.

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but the end of my novel is in sight. I have finally finished the final battle scene and am now working on the wrap-up…including laying a foundation for volume two.

To end this post, here’s some of my pics (taken with my new phone–no, it isn’t the best, but I love it):

My favorite stuffed animal in the whole wide world: Lamby (no "B" in the pronunciation); I’ve had her forever.

Two other stuffed animals–Hadassah (the pink unicorn) & Starmist (the white unicorn). They’re relatively new.

An awesome lamp that Imah let me have:

Last but not least, my favorite pic from the fair. Too bad it’s so blurry.

…famous last words of a hypochondriac. LOL!

Friday’s the Fairest of Them All

Categories: Memes

Friday’s Feast 161:

Appetizer
What is your favorite type of art? Home decor or fancy desserts (like wedding cakes and such).

Soup
When was the last time you got a free lunch (or breakfast or dinner)? Who paid for it? A couple months ago. My manager paid for my meal as a thank you for a job well done.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how emotional are you? It depends on how much sleep I’ve had, how much coffee, how well I’ve eaten, etc. I can be the coldest/hardest person or the most hyper/angry/depressed drama queen you’ve ever met. Usually, though, I like to play it cool.

Main Course
Approximately how long do you spend each day responding to emails? Ugh, too long. I’ve been cutting down lately.

Dessert
To what temperature do you usually set your home’s thermostat? 65 degrees.

Five on Friday: You’ve Got Talent

1. What do you consider to be your strongest talent? My writing. (I hope.)

2. Do you have any other talents that you’re particularly fond of? I’m told I am a good singer and a graceful dancer.

3. Describe one talent you wish you possessed? I wish I had a stronger musical talent.

4. How do you display or make use of your talents? I write novels (and series that last 7 years). I used to be part of a worship team, but now I just sing at home whenever I catch a moment. I wonder whatever happened to that dance troupe we were going to start…oh, that’s right. We all got jobs to support ourselves and now have no time for anything else.

5. What do you think drives so many people to watch and/or participate in talent shows and competitions? Ego, misplaced ambition, desperation. People watch it cause for the same reason they watch America’s Funniest Home Videos.

Friday Fill-in #38

1. I think I’ll try to finish my novel and then read Eclipse.
2. I desire a nice, hot bubble bath.
3. What if I never finish my novel series?!
4. The best thing about life right now is that I can handle it. With my goofy, head-in-the-clouds personality–and coffee–anything is possible!
5. When will I learn? (That IS the question.)
6. The best thing that happened to me so far this week getting my Katana II phone!! Oh, and the trip to the Puyallup Fair was great, too.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to shul, tomorrow my plans include cleaning my room so I can take pics of its loveliness, and Sunday, I want to disappear!

  3. Polar :: magnetism
  4. Idiots :: Guide
  5. Perception :: psychic (I know, I know; I read too much Kay Hooper.)
  6. Infected :: wound
  7. Fake :: a form of acting. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! We’re all going to die! Die! *gasp* Oh no! *wheeze* I…can’t…breathe…! [Imah stops driving.] Wahoo! Who’s up for ice cream?
  8. Relating :: connecting
  9. Distraction :: shiny objects–LOL!
  10. Gamble :: dreidel. Spin, baby, spin!

week of sept 16: random questions

1. What’s your favorite color? Pink!

2. How many languages do you speak? One and a half. Besides English, I can read and write Hebrew–I just need to work on my vocabulary. Imah and I also drop a few words/phrases in French, Spanish, Russian, and German. Maybe a few more…I’d think about it. My favorite phrase of ours is "uno momento, s’il vous plaît."

3. Who is your best friend? My Evil Twin, C4, and Her Majesty.

4. Are you married? Not yet. I still have, oh…about 8 more years of freedom.

5. wWhat’s your favorite song? Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.

6. What is your greatest fear? Imah hurting herself (and me) in a car accident. (Cruella de Ville from 101 Dalmations and John McClane in Die Hard 3 have NOTHING on her driving.)

7. Who is your hero? Dennis Prager–thanks to his Happy Hour.

Hmm. So much I have to say, but I won’t. Excitingedly waiting for my Sanyo Katana II. And I’m going with my Girlz to the Puyallup fair this week!!!!!!! Yeah, baby!

I’ve determined this will be a good week. I got two black cats to cross my path last night. For me, that’s good luck.

Katana!

Categories: Work, Tech

No, I was not planning this, but, as of Tuesday the 18th, I will have my new phone. The Sanyo Katana II–in pink, of course. (Click here to see it.) I’m so excited; I really hate my current phone, and I was losing hope that I would get another in my favorite color.

Imah liked the sound of the Katana’s features so much that she’s getting one, too. That worried me at first…until she assured me (in a tone of disgust) that she wasn’t going a pink one. She’ll be getting the black instead.

Once I have my new phone, I’ll be taking a lot more pictures.   Oo…thousands of ideas swirling through my head! I’m so excited!! Watch out, Girlz!

~~~~~~~~~~
On another note, I’ve decided not to go into my…uh, adventures this week. Let’s just say that the lack of sleep made me giddy, the pain-killers made me woozy, and the caffeine (to compensate for the pain-killers and lack of sleep) made me hyper. I’m just glad I didn’t get hurt or get reprimanded by my boss for rowdiness.
Oh god…they all probably thought I was *on* something. Well, I was. I did admit to being on pain-killers and caffeine. Most of my co-workers seemed to enjoy (and encourage) my behavior this week, though. One of them even said I should act like that more often.
Right…
I think I’ve scared enough people. LOL!
If I close my eyes and cover my ears…
Categories: Memes, Movies
Unconscious Mutterings 160:
Appetizer
When was the last time you visited a hospital? A several years ago when my grandmother had a heart attack.
Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how ambitious are you? Not at all really. I work to pay the bills. I live to write.
Salad
Make a sentence using the letters of a body part. (Example: (mouth) My other ukelele tings healthily.) Nadia only seems entertained.
Main Course
If you were to start a club, what would the subject matter be, and what would you name it? It would be an artists’ club for writers, illustrators, singers, actors, whatever and how to put their talents to good use. Offhand, my first brainstorm idea for a title would be The Gift. Something along that line.
Dessert
What color is the carpet/flooring in your home? Depends on which room. Yellow for the kitchen and dining room, white for the living room, multi-gray for the library, seafoam green for the bathroom and sun room, and (soon!) pink for my room!
Friday Five: Taken:
  1. Who was the photographer the last time a picture of you was taken? Trin or Micky.
  2. When were you last taken by surprise? Probably.
  3. When were you last taken for a ride (interpret literally or figuratively!)? Last Sunday when I rode with friends to the Seattle dance!
  4. Where were you the last time you wished to be “taken away from all this?” Home.
Dance with Your Feet - Not Your Stomach
Unconscious Mutterings, Week 240:
  1. Dork :: not to be confused with geek or nerd
  2. Refurbished :: me once I get over my nausea!
  3. Basket :: case
  4. Mousse :: hair or chocolate?
  5. Studio :: *sigh* one day…one day…
  6. 8 ball :: Tell me the future… (Actually, I don’t want to know.)
  7. Masking tape :: works as well as any other when someone needs to shut up!
  8. Love :: heart-breaker
  9. Wilder :: than you…since 1901
  10. Lindsey :: Lohan (What the dickens happened to her?!)
I stayed up late night (so much for catching up on sleep) watching Die Hard (#1) and uploading the photos I got from My Evil Twin from the road trip–and the dance party. Not many of the latter turned out though. They’re in my myspace photo album now–viewable by friends only. I won’t have time today, but I’ll try to post some here on my blog later this week.
I may do it after work today. It depends…I was planning to go to dance in Seattle with C4 directly after work, but my…er, monthly sickness is nearing. It isn’t much fun dancing while nauseated. Hopefully, the diet Sprite Imah bought me last night will keep working.
I want my feet to dance…NOT my stomach!
That and I’m wondering if I can really afford it. It’s funny how something as foolishly simple as using the wrong card can screw up your finances. Ugh. (Don’t worry; it’s all under control now. I just won’t be going on any shopping binges for a while!)
Oh, about Die Hard. I’ve never seen a whole Die Hard movie before, so our neighbor, the Motorcycle Chick, lent me the first three! I’m so excited! Bruce Willis rules!
Thur–er–Friday Memes!
Categories: Memes
Finally, did the finishing touches to my blog makeover last night. I’m going to pretend it’s Friday. It will be in a few minutes. Enjoy!
Friday’s Feast 159:
Appetizer
Using only one word, how does grocery shopping make you feel? Hungry.
Soup
What is your favorite part about the season of Autumn? The crispness in the air.
Salad
Have you ever had any bad experiences online? Other my computer dying from a virus…no.
Main Course
Name three things that make you happy daily. Coffee, people’s smiles, my novel.
Dessert
What one household cleansing or organizing item would you not want to be without? My wheeled carts–so nice for organizing!
Friday Fun: Friday Firsts:
1. School,…couldn’t wait or dreaded hell? Dreaded hell. I was so happy when I home-schooled for Senior High.
2. School supplies,… junkie or couldn’t care less? Er, well, I’m crazy about office supplies!
3. The locker,… organized or a chaotic mess? A little of both actually.
4. Lunch time,… bring or buy? Depends. My school put out its schedule for lunch for each month. When I saw something I didn’t like would be served, I’d bring my own.
5. Sports,… jock or not? I didn’t consider myself one, but in gym class they called me the Energizer Bunny. Some of my classmates even predicted I’d become a gym instructor. (I remember thinking, "Yeah…right.")
6. Music,… band, chorus, orchestra, or none of the above? If yes, what instrument or part? I always chose choir. At the beginning of each year, when we were all given the "voice test" I usually got to choose what part I sang because of my wide vocal range. Then, as now, I preferred alto.
7. Report cards,… grounded or rewarded?! In elementary, my grades sky-rocketed. In junior high…well, I don’t talk about those days much.
8. Reunions,… a good idea, or thanks, but no? What…with classmates? Except for a few, no thanks!
9. School friends,…. still have them or grown apart? Grown apart.
10. Favorite class? Frog dissection in junior high. "Hey, don’t those fat bodies look like Mac ‘n’ Cheese?" (It’s not my fault the cafeteria decided to serve that particular meal that particular day. Geez.)
Friday Fill-in #36:
1. I admire peoples with brains and the drive to make something of life.
2. I crave a fantasy world of peace where I can have all the sugar and fat I please without unpleasant side effects.
3. I dislike bright, glaring sunshine.
4. I enjoy writing ever so much.
5. I wonder why people keep wishing me happy birthday. I’m just now making party plans for it…super early!
6. I want to finish my novel, to buy the Twilight series, to get my own website up and running.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to shul, tomorrow my plans include sleeping after work and Sunday, I want to spend online (don’t see that happening, though)!
