I Like to Move it, Move it!

Categories: My life, Work, Tech

I’m supposed to be winding down because I have to get up super early tomorrow morning (I’m talking, 2:30), but how can I when I’m so excited?! I get off work today and find out Imah has researched a bunch of phones for me (I hate the one I have now) and narrowed it down to two. Because they’re from our phone company, we can get a huge-oh discount.

I fell in love with one. emoticon It has everything I want! And it will only cost 5o bucks after the discount. Music player, camera, camcorder, and it’s a flip-top. And internet! (Can’t forget that!) So, yeah, I’m excited. :D

Also, Imah had me request the next two weeks off from work so that next week we can move and the following week I need to be at my other job full time. (I don’t know why I can’t just give my two weeks notice with me moving away so soon.)

Yep, tomorrow, I get off early and will start packing up the van with furniture and everything we need for over the weekend because we’ll be sleeping in our new place from then on. (Wahoo!) Imah insisted (not that she needed to) because it’s so beautiful at our new place. No duh! That’s what won me over! That and it’s being mere minutes from my Girlz’ place.

Oh dear. I’m getting too excited. Do what my friends say…deep breaths…!

So, I’m not sure how this will affect my internet presence. I was really looking forward to Friday’s memes, but the phone company told us they couldn’t give us internet at our new place until Monday! :( Eh. I’ll probably be too busy moving anyway.

Monday?! I’ll pretend to be excited…

Categories: Work, Memes

Headed off to work (old job) in a bit. I think I should give my two weeks notice this week, but Imah says to wait because we need the extra income. Grr.

Anyway, here’s some memes. Enjoy!

Monday Madness:

1. In your opinion, what is the perfect summer daytime temperature? I’ve given this quite a bit of thought; I’m going to say 65-68 degrees (not to cold–perfect for running and dancing!).
2. What is the perfect nighttime temperature? Hm, I haven’t thought about this at all. I’m going to say 65 degrees again.
3. Do you plant many flowers around your yard? I’m no gardner; Imah’s the one who does that. And believe me, she gets plant-happy (even now, she can’t seem to walk out of a store with a garden without buying something).
4. How much lawn do you have to mow? Do you enjoy mowing lawn? None! Haha! (Yes, I hate mowing.)
5. Of the summer months, which is your favorite? Um…probably July.
6. Do you take a long vacation each summer? No.
7. Is summer your favorite season? If so, why? If not, why not?
It is now. I love the cute outfits I can wear!

Manic Monday:

Do you listen to music regularly? What’s your favorite way to listen– radio, CD, iPod…? I love music–of almost any kind. I prefer putting a CD in our DVD players and cranking the music through our big speakers. Yeah, baby!

When listening to music do you tend to focus more on the lyrics or the melody? Both. I often find myself studying the music.

If you had to pick a theme song to sum up your life right now, what would it be? Ha! My life is too kaleidoscopic to choose just one. Irreplaceable, Take This Job and Shove It, and maybe some nice emo song about life sucking in general…oh yeah, and Big Girls Don’t Cry. (Do I seem moody to you? My co-workers at my "old" job keep thinking I’m sad or something. emoticon I don’t get sad–I get mad!)

There. I’m done. *moody sigh* *curse* Where’s my coffe, blast it?!

*Big grin* Oh! Farewell! Have a great day! (Or try to…!)

I went to C4’s last night. I had just popped some popcorn and decided I didn’t want it, so I gave it to Gabe to give to the kiddles. I never saw the bag again. LOL!

C4 and I did a bit of dancing, but we were both rather tired and had limited space. After listening to some music, I watched Raph play an RPG computer game (which he died on several times) and then Micky and I helped her aunt with some fashion decisions. Hehe. Shortly after dinner, I had to leave. :( Still, it was nice to hang out there for a while.

I got myself a Meebo chatroom and got a little video-happy uploading my favorite clips on it. Anyway, here’s the link. I also have it embedded in my forum and myspace page. Enjoy!

Finally, A Free Friday

Categories: My life, Friends, Dance, Work, Memes

Friday’s Feast 148:

Appetizer
Fill in the blank:  The best thing about where I live is I’m moving! LOL! (I love the view at my new place!)

Soup
Create a new name for a deodorant (like “Flower Fresh” or “Shower Scent”). "Can’t tell I just danced for hours, huh?" (Ok, that’s a little long, but it would sell to people like me.) emoticon

Salad
What was the last piece of software you installed onto your computer? Oh goodness, I haven’t installed anything for awhile.

Main Course
If you were to receive a superlative award today beginning with the words ”Most likely to…”, what would the rest of the phrase say? "Most likely to instigate craziness at parties."

Dessert
What two colors do you like to wear together? Um…red & white or pink & white.

Friday Fiver:

1. Are you attracted to the naughty or the nice? Hehe. Both. The naughty guys don’t last though.

2. Do you let your dirty laundry pile up? …yes.

3. What’s the last excuse you made? *I* can rough-house with scissors because I am the Keeper of the Scissors and will not have my position challenged!!

4. Do you play it safe or do you take risks? Does wrestling people over a pair of scissors sound like playing it safe? (And don’t think this is the first time. Oh no…)

5. Fill-in:
Let’s go to Seattle and dance!

Friday Fill-in #25:

1. She loves men, the darker the better! (LOL! I don’t know what else to put here. Chocolate is NOT an option.)
2. He loves all types of food.
3. This blogger misses dancing with friends (OK, maybe I get greedy when it comes to dance).
4. Unfortunately, she’s working seven days a week lately!
5. Humility is not her strong suit; in fact I do believe she scoffs at it, ho hum. emoticon
6. Her lunacy fascinates me; I love that her coffee smells (and tastes) of vanilla toffee caramel!
7. What are you doing this weekend? Tonight I’m looking forward to sleeping and working on my novel, tomorrow my plans include working emoticon and Sunday, I want to go dancing in Seattle but I probably won’t.

I went back to my restaurant job this week. I must say that I was totally dreading it. It was near devastating to my pride to take the job in the first place, but I learned quite a bit from it and even grew to love it. I’ve reached a point, however, where I feel I’ve learned what I need and am now ready to move on.

Thus, when I had to return after two weeks of absence, I dreaded it. I prayed that two certain managers would be there. They were. Without them, I don’t think I would have been positive about being back. They’re so great–especially together. One of them was only recently promoted to manager and her first day working out the shifts (deciding who goes where and for how long) was my first day back.

I think I may have done even better today (though there were some difficult customers and some general snags). I worked an extra hour even though I knew it would the most difficult one of the day’s shift. It was only hour, they needed me, and whatever time I got off didn’t change the fact that I would be walking home. So, hey, why not? And for my "trouble," I got a ride home. How cool is that!

I was hoping to go to Puyallup with C4 this weekend, but she won’t be going there, so I’m going to go ahead and work. I could still go to dance in Seattle on Sunday, but I’m totally not going by myself. I’ll admit those dances intimidate me, and nothing will make me try other than the physical force of a friend.

*sigh* Her Majesty’s party reminded me how much I miss dancing with friends. Grr. But no way am I sorry I went! Wahoo!

Off to wreak a little havoc among my internet associates (i.e. I’m going to hang out on myspace and some other fun sites) and then I’ll work on my novel.

Farewell. Shabbat Shalom!

Caffeine, Sugar, & Dance Music

Categories: Friends, Dance

Good times. Despite how drugged I felt this morning, I thought of last night and it made me smile giddily. (Let me say: it is not usual for me to smile in the morning–especially after a late night of partying. I’m a major crab in the mornings. Just ask Imah.)

So, Her Majesty is now legally able to drink and pack heat (notice I stuck the word "legally" in there. LOL!). I’d say I was jealous, but I already drink (God bless Jewish holy days) and Her Majesty is more of a katana person than a shooter (unless she’s actually going to get that sniper rifle her alter ego uses). emoticon

Anyway, about her party. Sadly, C4 couldn’t make it (so this is largely for you, my Highly Explosive One). We were, however, graced with the sanguine presence of Death. emoticon I was so glad to see her; it’s been forever (we’re great allies–yes, be afraid). Her Majesty’s brother, the Count (psychotic as ever–don’t believe a word he says about me) and his girlfriend (I approve of your choice, Count) were there–since it was at the royal home–as was the ever energetic swing-dancer I shall fondly/fiendishly title Yoshi (hey, he put the idea in the head–oh! The images! Take them away!) Last, but most certainly not least, Her Majesty’s bouncy fiancee, Tigger.

Naturally, with a group of enthusiastic crazies such as ourselves (fed by caffeine, sugar, dance music and mutual instigation) we, uh, had a great time!!! emoticon The Count goaded me with the scissors (it’s an old joke–he still defies my rights as Keeper of the Scissors), and I ended wrestling with Yoshi over another pair (don’t ask me how I get into these situations). He dragged me all over the front lawn and slit my hand open! Still, I’ve have my hands cut so many times, I’m used to it (it’s part of the hazard of being the Keeper); I simply licked/sucked the blood off until it stopped bleeding. (I don’t normally do stuff like that, but I knew it would creep them out–and I thought the Count would find it entertaining, being as fascinated with blood as he is…) Oh, the white shirt I wearing…it’s fine. LOL! There’s like a microscopic touch of green on the back. Totally unnoticeable to the general population.

While doing the Riverdance, I was gratified to find I can still nearly kick myself in the face (I was worried because I’ve been slacking off on my exercises and stretches). Somebody (I shall place the blame on Tigger) had the audacity to do partner dance (not so bad)…and drag me into it!! (That is unacceptable!) Actually, it wasn’t so bad. It’s just that it was one of those where your partner keeps changing…Count was squeamish when his partner became his sister…He was horrified when I became his next. Poor guy; I almost feel sorry for him…almost. *snickers*

Later, we played DDR (I sucked at first, but I believe I was getting better…), Clue, and some random acting games (that was frightening–I colossally suck at improvising). I watched in awe as Her Majesty, Tigger, and Yoshi "fought" each other with various swords and daggers (Count joined in with a wooden stick…that didn’t last long).

Oh, and they played Halo 2. It funny whenever Yoshi killed or was killed–his character was named "Your Mom". So, Yoshi would kill someone, and the screen would say "You were killed by Your Mom." It was hilarious! Her Majesty’s mom walked in when I read the words out loud…man, I wish I had a camera for that look!

So, yeah, there’s no way my b-day party will be that great, but I don’t care. That was a blast! (And I didn’t even throw up from all the sugar–combined with dancing and laughing–that I had, though I was fairly sure I would at one point!)

Happy 21, Your Majesty! Hopefully, I’ll see you on Saturday…maybe?

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 227

I may not have a chance to blog for a few days, so here goes:

Unconscious Mutterings, Week 227:

  1. Acoustic :: guitar
  2. Sanity :: bo-o-oring
  3. Mambo :: isn’t that a candy?! emoticon

  7. Coward :: yellow
  8. Trunk :: elephant
  9. Hold me :: …far away
  10. Psychological :: powers

Imah and I went to the lovely home of some members of our synagogue. Wow. It was awesome. The camaraderie melted my reserve, and the spectacular food stripped away my picky eating habits. I had a great time talking to a young woman who’s currently attending culinary school and a family who visited Italy (I will visit Italy and test their coffee…mm).

So, we should be moving in high gear this week. Imah’s wondering if we should wait to move next month, but I’m totally opposed. I want to move now!!

I’ve also gotten an urge to finish my novel. I’m so close it scares me, but I’ve got to finish it. Besides, I have lots of other stories to write. :)

week of june 3: name one of each

1. a movie that made you laugh: Pirates 3

2. a book that made you cry: One of James Herriot’s books; the story about Amber.

3. a best friend: C4

4. a favorite childhood memory: "camping out" in the forest in the backyard.

5. your favorite animal: cougar (followed closely by the tiger)

6. your favorite food: vanilla ice cream!

7. an item of clothing you can’t do without: cute underclothes (it’s about how it makes you feel)

8. something you collect: story ideas

9. your favorite store to shop in: Walmart

10. your favorite flower: white rose

I got my first look at my new place yesterday. The inside was ok; not really better than what I have now, except it’s bigger. I like that. And I should get plenty of exercise going up and down those stairs.

What sold me was the outdoors. There’s a great view of the Puget Sound. The water’s so close, I’m going to see if I can throw a rock in it. I bet I can. Nearby is a tree (or trees) with multiple little trunks that reach up toward the sky like the fingers of an uplifted hand. I sat in the "palm" of the tree’s "hand" for inspiration (I love, I mean LOVE trees) and watched the sun set over the Olympics. Wow. Trees, water, and mountains–my three favorite parts of nature–all together at the tip of my fingers. I’m in love. (And I just bought a white rose bush to decorate the place!! *sigh* It’s so pretty.)

There are other perks as well. Just down the street is the YMCA, the library, and a place to get my nails done! :D Best of all, my Girlz are only two miles away!! And C4 is moving back with them!!! I’m so excited.

Oh, hehe. I’m so excited about the move I nearly forgot the movie! C4 and I went to see Pirates 3 last night. I’ve been hearing that it was "too long", but some of my favorite movies are long ones, so that doesn’t matter. I loved it! Two thumbs up! The special effects were spectacular. The script was hilarious. Keira Knightly (and her wardrobe) was awesome. Orando Bloom was way sexier than Johnny Depp (although maybe I just think that because he got the girl).

So, yeah, life is good. I spent all week cleaning out apartments in the summer heat, but it wasn’t so bad. I had Dr. Pepper, ice cream, and key lime pie. *yummy*

I’m still trying to get into the groove of the weekend part of my new job: the office stuff and working with my mother. I’m going to be perfectly honest and say I don’t like it. I don’t know what she was thinking, unless it’s her way of keeping an eye on me (she’s extremely protective). Seriously, though, we do not get along. We’re both too hot-headed, willful, stubborn, and territorial. (If I’m working on something, leave it the dickens alone unless I ask for help–which I’m not likely to do. It’s one of my weaknesses.)

So, we’ll see how it works out. Imah wants me to stay at this job for at least a year (so don’t freak out about my moving away to another state, my dear friends). Hey, at least I’m meeting a lot of cute guys. ;) ;) LOL!
