Calm before the Storm

Categories: Work, Memes, LR

Booking through Thursday

  • Do you read e-Books? Occasionally.
  • If so, how? On your computer, or a PDA? On the computer.
  • Or are you a paper purist? Why? I’m only a paper purist when it comes to writing. I have to write my rough draft on paper and then I can edit it while typing it up.

We’ve caught up on cleaning apartments for now. Tomorrow, more people will be moving out and the new people in, so we’ll very busy then. Fun. Real fun.  emoticon

Trying to work on my novel when I can, but I’m a little stuck. I think I’m so close to the end that it’s causing subconscious conflictions. LOL!

Rest in Peace

Categories: My life, Work, Memes

Manic Monday

What’s your favorite food item that is in your refrigerator right now? The key lime pie…but we’re going through a love/hate relationship.

Do you enjoying barbecuing on the grill? What’s something that you make often? Mm, Polish hot dogs; used to be I wouldn’t touch hot dogs unless they were barbecued and slightly burnt. That’s still how I prefer them.

What one item (kitchen gadget, appliance, food item) in your kitchen best describes your personality? Why? The first thing that comes to mind is the blender. I have a variety of ingredients inside me and they all come out a mess! LOL! …at least, at first glance. And don’t press the wrong buttons!!

I would have liked to spend Memorial Day barbequing with family and friends…but they’re all busy. And the rest of this week I’ll be cleaning out beaucoup apartments. Yeah, I’ll have my hands full. So, today, I just slept and read my book (well, not my book, though, perhaps, I should have worked on it).

I’m feeling pretty sluggish. I think it’s the allergies. I’m craving carbonated drinks (which I usually don’t drink unless I have a really upset stomach) and that key lime pie which Imah cruelly brought home keeps whispering to me seductively "eat me…eat me…"

I would gladly yield to the temptation if not for the strange and unpleasant effect sugar has upon me–especially at certain times of the month. This happens to be that certain time of month, so, for the sake of the safety of the population, I’m avoiding sugar as much as possible. Unfortunately, these times I should not have sugar are the very times I seem to crave it most. Take that treacherous Kit Kat bar I found in the car yesterday. Ok, so that’s one of my favorite candy bars, but still, in most cases I would be able to resist its powers. *ahem* Just act innocent if Imah asks what happened to her Kit Kat bar. emoticon

Hmm. I wonder how much sugar those blueberry muffins will have… emoticon

Is it PMS or am I just tired?

Categories: My life, Work, Memes, Fitness

Friday’s Feast, Week 145:

Appetizer
Name a sound you like to hear. My bird clock.
Soup
What is your favorite kind of cheese? Mozzarella.
Salad
Do you sleep late on Saturday mornings? Why or why not? Not usually–I’m either watching cartoons or going to Puyallup with C4.
Main Course
When was the last time you forgot something?  What was it, and how long did it take to remember it? I forgot to put on my hat at work the other day and locked it in my locker. I ran to get when my manager pointed out its absence.
Dessert
Fill in the blank:  I notice guys when they dance (especially in public).

Friday Fill-in #22

1. 10 years at sea; one in the dock!
2. Why is the coffee gone!?
3. Here there be ice cream and cake!
4. Ah…the world does not know my power. emoticon
5. The translation from the ancient scripts must be true.
6. Of course it (ice cream) makes you happy.
7. This weekend, I will sow chaos, panic, and maybe even disorder! Happy Memorial Day!

So, I’ve been pretty crabby this week. That glorious energy of last week, alas! is no more. I haven’t been getting much sleep either. Despite how sleepy I’ve been, I’m having trouble getting to sleep. Could that be why I’m crabby? emoticon  Although, it could be PMS (it could totally be PMS). emoticon

My uncle Ollie arrived Monday to spend an extended visit with us. Let’s just say he’s living with us because when we move (to a new apartment complex next month–surprise!), he’ll be helping out with the rent. I often find Imah’s surprises inconvenient if not unpleasant, but the whole "we’re moving in a few weeks even though I said we wouldn’t be moving anytime before the fall" has just shocked me. It isn’t so bad, though. I’ll have to quit my current job (of which I am quite bored if not plain sick) and I’ll be a mere two miles from my beloved Girlz. *bliss*

I’m really glad Ollie’s with us, too. He’s an invalid, and Imah must focus her obsessive/compulsive-ness on taking care of him instead of using it too hen-peck me. I know; I’m selfish. Seriously, though, it’s nice having a third person around to keep us off each other’s throats.

Oh, so last night, I finally got the hang of the hula hoop! I’m so happy! Between doing that, dancing, my regular exercises, and maybe some biking and walking, I should be back to my Halle Berry hotness in no time. emoticon

What a Week

Categories: My life, Work, Memes

Friday’s Feast 144:

Appetizer
List 3 emotions you experienced this week. Funny this question should come up…anger, depression, hyperactive happiness. (God, that sounds mental! LOL!)

Soup
Name a car you’d love to have. Besides a limo? I want a hot pink Hummer! (–with snide bumper stickers!)

Salad
Describe your typical morning routine. *alarm* *stumble into the shower* *coffee* Wahoo! I’m awake! Let’s get this party started!! (Hey, life’s a party, right?)

Main Course
Have you ever emailed someone famous?  If so, who, and what did you say to them?  Did they reply? No, I have not…yet.

Dessert
Do you listen to podcasts?  If so, which ones? No.

Five on Friday: May Flowers

1. What are your favorite kinds of flowers? Daffodils, white roses, Stargazer Lilies.

2. Do you have any cut flowers in your home or office right now? What kinds? A bunch of roses of varied colors (two are white!).

3. Are you growing/planting any live flowers inside or outside your home? What kinds and where? I’m not, but Imah has all kinds of plants all over the place (she’s a gardening fanatic).

4. Which flowers do you associate with specific people, places, or events? Daffodils remind me of my childhood–perhaps my favorite part of my childhood.

5. When was the last time you were given flowers as a gift? Well, my wubby gave me a painting of flowers last weekend.

Friday5: Preparedness

  1. At this moment, how many rolls of toilet paper are there in your house? A lot.
  2. At this moment, how many working flashlights are there in your house? Probably none.
  3. Do you know where some candles and matches are? Being the scented candle freak that I am…they’re all over the place!
  4. If the power were to go out right now, how long could you probably get by on the food in your house? A few days.
  5. It’s someone’s birthday, and you’ve GOT to come up with something to give him or her RIGHT NOW! What have you got? Um…kirigami art?

Still haven’t learned how to work the hula hoop. I think I just need to practice more. Part of my problem is that I’m so afraid of failing that I won’t even try. That was my greatest obstacle in dance. Now, I’ve got to work past that to learn to use the hula hoop.

Speaking of work and dance, I’ve been hyper at work the last two days. Wednesday, I confessed to some co-workers that I had an "almost irresistible urge to can-can."  Now, one of them calls me "can-can." emoticon

Yesterday, I went to work half-asleep, and (as sometimes happens when I’m sleep-deprived) ended up having a paraoxism of laughter that left me gasping–just because a co-worker and I did a wavy dance move with our arms. One of my superiors shook her head at us and muttered, "Some people’s kids…"

Well, I must get ready for work. Tomorrow, I start my first official day on my new job. This should be interesting…

Do the Hula–Hoop!

Categories: My life, Work, Fitness

I’m so excited–it evens overrides the fact that I’ve lost my dance CD (ok, that’ll knock me over the head soon). I bought myself a hula hoop last night!! Oh yeah, it brings back childhood memories (I know some of you are laughing at me–a young woman in her early twenties–talking about her  childhood years of "long ago". Good. I like it when people laugh. emoticon)

I’m just bubbling with excitement. I tried the hula hoop out before going to bed (figuring I wouldn’t be able to go to sleep without doing so) and utterly failed. It was pitiful. But I am optimistic. I’ve checked out some how-to sites (emoticon) and had my excitement renew because I realized–Guess what!–hula hooping is good exercise!! And it works on your abs, which, as a bellydancer wannabe, is the part of my body I’m focusing on.

Anyway, I am officially a leasing agent for the apartments where Imah works. I’m feeling a little less excited about that because I got a taste yesterday of the cleaning we have to when people move out. We didn’t finish the one we spent nearly all day on and we have 12 apartments left! Ugh. I’m sure the soreness of the work will hit me today.

I nearly forgot: because of my new job and the opportunities it opens to me, Imah has decided (for the most part–can’t really tell with her) to postpone moving…uh, to the Washington/Oregon border. We may, however, move to the apartments where we work. Maybe. It depends on if it will actually save us money and be generally beneficial. Still, I’d be closer to my Girlz. That would cool.

One last thing (and, yes, it excites me). I ordered a couple pairs of "arm warmers" online the other day. They’re fishnet; one’s black and the other’s white. They should be here any day. I’m practically glued to the door watching for that box. I can’t wait!!! emoticon

Another Manic Monday

Categories: Friends, Work, Memes

Manic Monday:

Is it easier for you to forgive or to forget? Forgive–mostly. I am naturally a vengeful person, but I seem to be getting better than I was at forgiving. I never really forget.

Do you believe people can change? It’s easier when they’re children; once they’re adults it’s nearly impossible. I’d give it a 1% chance.

Has life made you more cynical or more hopeful? Heh. Cynical. It’s a constant fight to remain cheerful in this world. I’m often floating off in a daydream (thinking up a new story)–that cheers me up.

You know, work really takes my mind off being moody (sometimes). It seems like I’m happier when I keep busy. Take today, for example: I was asked to work a longer shift and I really didn’t want to because yesterday I was totally morose and downright sleepy. But I said yes because, hey, it’s money. Turns out, I ended more cheerful as the day progressed. If I had gone home I would have just moped. So, even though I did have frighteningly crabby/inconsiderate customers today, I had the lunch rush and the dishes to cheer me up. And several cups of coffee, of course.

007 (aka my wubby) showed up at work today. Over the speaker, he asked if he could have a girlfriend to love him. I had no idea it was him. To me, it was just this random guy. I’ve had some weirdos, believe me, and some charmers, but this took the cake. All I could do was stare blankly for a moment and then stifle my laughter. Then, he pulled up to the window and it made sense. It was his way of asking me for forgiveness because when we parted after that terrible incident this weekend, I was angry at him.

I told him I wasn’t angry at him anymore, but we still need to talk. I’ve forgiven him, but he’s still in trouble. With my weekends gone, I don’t know when that’s going to happen, though. I’d like to talk to him in person and not on the phone.

Ok, moving on. Tomorrow, I have another interview with my new employers to get trained on what to do on my weekend job. I’m a little nervous, but they seem to like me, so I’m crossing my fingers in hope that I don’t screw it up.

*sigh* So much day left. It’s beautiful out and I’m feeling restless. I am a recluse no more! I will go out in the sunshine (after all, I have a laptop–lol!).

Farewell!

randomness…feed your mind and your blog

week of may 13: Happy Mothers Day!

For Mother’s Day, if you could give your mom anything in the world, what would it be? Peace of mind. She struggles with PTS Syndrome and it really causes her a lot of anguish.

I’m just going to crawl into a hole and drown out the world around me. Oh, how could I be such a fool! I swore to myself I’d never let a guy get between a friend and myself, but yesterday that’s exactly what I did. I knew better. I totally knew better. Now, I’ve hurt a friend (nevermind, myself, because I don’t give a crap about that right now), and apologizing is not going to make up for it. I must make recompense, but how? I can’t undo what I’ve done.

My natural reaction is to turn on the guy in anger. What-ever. It isn’t like he held a gun to my head. I’m at fault here. I chose that path to take. Now, I get to sleep in the bed I’ve made, as they say. It’s damnably painful, though. Still, it ought to be good for me to experience some pain because of what I did to my friend. As for the guy…he’s walking on ice; and I’m holding an axe contemplating whether or not to cut his life-line.

My Last Weekend of Freedom

Categories: My life, Friends, Memes

Unconscious Mutterings 143:

Appetizer
Tell about a time when you had to be brave. When I was in junior high, there was an earthquake We all went under the tables and were told to remain calm. It was a surreal time for me because I didn"t feel frightened a bit. I felt totally shielded–like I was under angel"s wings. It was really cool–and surreal.

Soup
Which upcoming movie are you excited about seeing? I have vowed to see Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

Salad
Name an item you try to always have on hand. My novel (or at least paper and pencil)–LOL!

Main Course
Imagine the most relaxing room you can think of.  Now describe it! Huge bubble bath with classical music system. Probably in gentle gold hues.

Dessert
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being highest), how spiritual or religious are you? That’s tough. For one thing, I’m a naturally private person and for another, I’ve gone through some experiences that have made me revulsed to displaying religious behavior. Also, as a result of certain experiences, I’ve become more spiritual than religious. I’m totally into spiritual stuff; I’m fascinated by it. But to get to my answer, I think I’ll put myself at 6 or 7 (I can’t decide!).

Friday Fun: Fantabulous Friday

1. What is the most fantabulous thing that has happened this week? My new job (that will eventually get me out of my current one!)!!
2. When you are feeling kinda down, what do you to make yourself feel fantabulous? I’ll write, crank up my favorite music, or take a bath.
3. If you could change one thing about your life that would make you feel more fantabulous, what would it be? I don’t know. I’m a creature of habit; I’d rather just keep my life the way it is. Unless…my mother and I could get along better, I marry a rich guy, I spend all the time I want writing. Other than that, keep it the same.

Friday Fill-in #20

1. It’s Friday! Woohoo!
2. Only 13 more days til doomsday. Muahahaha!
3. It was a slow, sleepy day yesterday! [ed. note: that was for Monique!]
4. I love my friends (and my wubby!).
5. Blood is something that doesn’t matter, unless you are a vampire. (Yeah, I’m showing how warped my mind is.)
6. Mothers: Don’t mess with ‘em.
7. I’d like to do dancing and partying this weekend.

Friday Fiver:

1. What do you obsess about? Other than myself (lol–at least I’m honest about it, right?), my novel.

2. What do you do for a living? Serve the public–you ungrateful microwave generation!

3. Where do you call home? Planet Saturn–how I long for home…

4. Have you lived up to your parents’ expectations? Ha! No. And I never will.

5. Are we more likely to find you in a coffee bar or a nightclub? Did someone say COFFEE?!

So, I’m facing my last free weekend, feeling the pressure to make everything go perfectly. Of course, this means having everything go exactly the way I want. The funny thing is that I wouldn’t be happy if everything was perfect. I’ll just have to be content with the blessing of being with my friends one more time. Hey, I’m sure I’ll get to see them again before I move.

Well, I’m off to take my bath and get ready for the weekend!

Until I blog again…

Farewell and Shabbat Shalom!
